Is there a way to print out, or at least save in a separate file, the list of Rejected URLs? If possible, separated by reason, if there is one?

Right now the only way would be to go to FFF Config -> Other -> View library preferences. There you can see all your preferences as they are saved in the DB. With a bit of editing, you can extract the rejects from it.
Is this is a one-off task, or something that's worth making a new feature for? |

Can this be made to run as a job? That way I can use calibre while it checks metadata or checks links for download?

There's a checkbox option for running updates of existing books in the background. Downloads by URL or from email cannot be run entirely in background.

I have marked the checkbox for running metadata in the background, but it still doesn't give me access to calibre while it's running.

If you know the administrators of the above sites, you might let them know. Since the domains are all still there, I don't plan to remove support at this time, so they should work again if the sites come back. Removed:

I'm not sure what the MR forum rules say about mentioning (but not linking) to explicit sites. You may want to edit that post.
That site has been requested before and is on the Other Sites Not Likely to be Supported list. "[Site] has (mostly) text (ASCII) instead of html, does not appear to have most of the metadata FanFicFare usually collects. And while it's not a firm requirement for FanFicFare, [site] appears to be mainly original content, not fanfic." |

Metadata Question
Hi! First of all, I want to say thank you so much for making this plugin, continuing to update and providing such awesome support for its users!!
Secondly, I was wondering if it's possible to format tags containing 'Alternate Universe -' and 'such and such au' and then filter it into a custom column? For example, this fic here (http://archiveofourown.org/works/10837728) has the tags Alternate Universe - Royalty and Alternate Universe - Fantasy. Can FFF format those tags into 'Royalty AU' and 'Fantasy AU' without having each AU listed out in the settings? An example of a fic with just 'such and such au' would be here. I understand I can remove the "Alternate Universe - " using replace_metadata, but is it possible to add the 'AU' part to the end of the tag? I was really hoping I could make have a custom column for fic aus and have the au tags somewhat normalized into a certain pattern. Thanks again! |

(multi-reply)
@misydia, replace_metadata is a very versatile tool for making many kinds of changes. It relies on regular expressions(regexp or re) and while regexp is usually common knowledge among computer scientists and programmers, is not intuitive to everyone. The particular cases you mention are fairly simple in theory, but quickly get complicated when you realize that AO3 lets any author enter anything they want. For example, you'll likely want at least: Code:
[archiveofourown.org] replace_metadata: freeformtags=>^[Aa]lternate[ ]*[Uu]niverse[ :-]+(.*)$=>\1\sAU freeformtags=>[ ]+au$=>\sAU ^ = beginning of tag [Aa]lternate = Alternate or alternate [ ]* = zero or more spaces [Uu]niverse = Universe or universe [ :-]+ = one or more spaces, colons and/or dashes (.*) = zero or more of any characters, grouped for later use $ = end of tag And the replacement string means: \1 = the first paran group from the regexp \sAU = [space]AU (\s is only in replacement strings, it's FFF specific, not normal regexp.) Many other users have asked before about trying to normalize AO3 tags. Some have built up substantial personal.ini libraries of replace_metadata settings. But it's never going to be perfect for all stories as long as AO3 allows completely free form tags. Additional Reading: FFF Wiki page ReplaceMetadata (and other pages in the wiki) @DarkMagda, Check this FAQ, it will probably help. |
