And probably back up to 70 in a couple days... (Well, as the Texan told the Yankee. "Don't let we Texans fool you. We like 70 and dry sunshine as well as anybody else. We just like ours in the winter.")

I once mowed my lawn in San Antonio on Christmas Eve. Then sat on the back porch and wrote Christmas cards in my shorts and t-shirt.

Whither does your escalator lead, Sir Ralph Sir Edward? I don't recall anybody asking yet.

If it leads to that green Christmas, I'll get on the escalator right away. I can *do* -20F but I didn't say I really *like* it!

My avatars are from a group of architectural goofs pictures. This is the latest. I may shift to something else soon.

More seriously, South Texas may not get it's first freeze until after Christmas. Maybe 5 out of 10 years. On the other hand, there aren't many professional jobs there, and the pay is low. <Shrug> That's why I'm in DFW. Remember, though, that Summer hits by May 1, and stays until Oct 1 there. And I do mean summer. Highs around 98-100 constantly, lows around uppper 70s. And it does freeze every year, so no outside tropical plants. And a city gov't that would make a Chicago native feel right at home....

Put some earplugs in. Rather worryingly, they come in all manner of odd swirly colours these days.

i gots lots of earplugs, no worries. although i don't really like to sleep with them. mostly mine are yellow but i do have swirly-coloured ones, and also some light blue ones. i don't like them ; they're too big. and yes, i'm sure it's snoring. he snores every night. so does the cat, actually, so sometimes i have to check and see which one of them it is.
