I was summoned to a party, but they served breakfast, and I just had some scrambled eggs, a little bacon, some hash browns and one small glass of red wine, but my stomach was already starting to hurt before then, so I don't think it was the food), and I'm going to bed really early.

I've still got a lot of projects to finish up before the "cops" come to search/inspect my house on Monday (at 11:30 am), so I really do not have any time to be sick.
Glad it's got better. Hope Monday goes OK - when you will find out what they think they've found? If that makes sense...

Oh, they won't "find" anything. They didn't find anything the last time they searched. In fact, that time the entire "search" took exactly seven minutes (I know ... I timed them with a stopwatch).

Last time they sent two officers. One just stood in the entry hall looking like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming truck. (I may have sort of told her that if she put anything ... anything at all .... down anywhere, then I was NOT going to be responsible for what would happen to it. (In other words, if one of the cats poops on your stuff, then that's your problem.) The other guy just sort of walked around while I complained about the lack of Constitutional rights in this hick town. (I may have compared it to Nazi Germany .... I don't really recall.)

This time they are only sending one officer ... the same guy as last time, so while it is a royal pain in the ass, it should be over with rather quickly. It's just so difficult to pick up and organize everything so I can clean under, over and around it, when I am in the middle of so many building and repair projects ... and work, mustn't forget work.

(work .... bad ..... fun .... good)

Inside a small, carboard box, a selection of four petits fours from Designer Desserts, the magic pastry shop down the road (you can't make sweet things as delightful as they do without some magic): and so, a small lemon-lime tart, a tiny fruit flan, a smidge of chocolate cake (layered with hazelnut cream), and a tidgy caramel and macadamia nut tart. Finished now, and next to me my little latte awaits.

When the sun eases west and out of UV Extreme mode, we'll arvo down at the beach and a bodybash.

Tonight, chicken and oyster mushroom laksa and afterwards, double chocolate chip cookie vanilla icecream (all of it made by myself even! ).

Maybe I should go eat breakfast.... I know my cockatiel would like that. He sounds lonely out in the kitchen. (And he usually gets a bit of my breakfast, too.)

Never having had hobnobs, are they like a sort of very crunchy oatmeal cookie (biscuit)? The Muffin Man makes quite good oatmeal cookies, though they are usually soft.

At this exact moment, I am finishing up my can of Coke, and getting ready to start scrubbing the floors at the back end of the entry hall.

I'm already tired and I've only been at it five hours. Not good.

I think that I am starting a cold, so I'm going to bed.

One occupational hazard of lecturing is the common cold. If you stand at the front of a banked lecture theatre then you are likely to catch all the colds around, as students cough, wheeze and sneeze asynchronously in your direction. Usually I catch a cold every autumn. It's rather later than usual this year. To judge by the volume levels of the coughing in the lecture halls, it's a rather severe cold this year.
Tomorrow I shall make chicken soup and see if I can persuade it to go away.

i'm sorry patricia, colds are miserable. i recommend plenty of hot beverages, fresh ginger (you can make an infusion or put it in soup) and garlic. and lots and lots of tea. oh, and rest. i hope you feel better soon.

Get some Vicks vaporub, and rub it all over your chest. Cover with flannel cloth, put warm top on and go to bed.
Put a smear under your nose to clear stuffiness.

My mom did this for me when I was a kid and while it hated the 'ickiness' it really works.
