Don't you just love 'puters? My fileserver at home has started to crash intermittently(sp?) and it's using old IDE raid cards for it's 10x300GB HD's, so I can't buy a new motherboard for it, since they don't make those anymore. *sigh*

Neko - You need four tounge depressors, some plastic wrap and a roll of duck(t) tape. Cover wrist with plastic wrap, put one depressor on each quadrant of your wrist and wrap semi tight with duct tape. I know it sounds silly but as a temporary measure it works. Please don't ask me how I know.

trying to convince my inner clock that it was not in fact 4 in the morning when i got up, but actually 3 in the afternoon. so far unsuccessfully. urg. i hate jetlag.

the good news is, i seem to have recovered my azerty typing skills in mere hours, rather than the 3 weeks it took me to get almost used to the qwerty keyboard.

Good plan, but my wonderful beloved husband just called to say he'd noticed that I left the brace at home, and had some errands to do, and would I like him to drop it off at work?

To clarify, my tendons hurt from some kind of repetitive stress injury (probably computer-related) so I probably wouldn't need to immobilize all four quadrants of the wrist. (And although I think I do have some duct tape here, I don't have any tongue depressors. I suppose I could go eat four popsicles from the vending machine....

)

I think it has more to do with the mouse than the keyboard. Actually, I think the touchpads on the laptops are one of the worst classes of culprits.

I have my wrist brace on now, but on reflection, if I hadn't had it today, I could have created a reasonable facsimile with my fleece "wristies," a spoon, plastic knives, and tape.

What I'm doing "right now" is looking at the Shapeways "3D Printing" service (http://www.shapeways.com), and thinking about how I could use it to make interesting game parts.
