My PC is by a window that overlooks a pond, and I'm watching a pair of ducks perched on the drainage ring apparently enjoying the weather (It's 38F with fairly heavy sleet).

Wondering why the family opposite, always put out the wrong items for waste collection. They did it again this wek; the bins were emptied yesterday but the pile of wrong stuff they heaped beside it, is still there, waiting to be distributed along our street by wind, foxes and passing yobboes!

Perhaps in their minds, it is the job of the waste collectors to manually pickup those items? I have a neighbour who despite being told that they must use the city supplied containers for garbage, compostables, glass, etc. which can be picked up by the arms on the truck, still insists on placing items beside them. If nothing else, most of the stuff such as an old CRT television and a microwave are not permitted in residential garbage. |

DNSB, my neighbours have the same attitude; dump it beside the bin and they will take it away. In fact, over the years we have had many circulars from the local council, explaining in detail what WILL and what WILL NOT be picked up! Basically, if it is loose beside the bin and not actually IN the bin, it will not be removed. But some people seem oblivious to these directions and as I said, it usually ends up beig strewn along the road by our trong prevailing wind, or wildlife or drunks on their way home from town. We live on the edge of town so that is common behaviour! |

Installing a secondary hard drive to see just how close I can come to the promised 7,450/6,900MB/s read/write speeds for the 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and how much better the random read/writes IOPS are than the current SSD (500GB) which claimed a 3,200/1800MB/s speed. If all goes well, I'll be migrating the system to the new drive and moving the old one to an external Thunderbolt enclosure to be added to my backups. We all have our own idea of what is fun to do on a Friday night. |

Shoveling snow. Well, not exactly right this minute. But I put in two solid hours and I could have just stayed out there; it's coming down so fast. So I'll be shoveling most of the day, but at least the next passes won't be as back-breaking and time consuming as dealing with the overnight accumulation was. Fingers crossed on keeping power; heavy wet snow and gusty winds are a bad combination.

Hmmm... taking many walks RIGHT NOW? Perhaps a change of user name to "I am legion".

That's some heavy snow out there. Someday -- May, maybe -- we too shall have temps in the 60s. My favorite day of the year is a week from tomorrow and I'm too apathetic to care. Gotta muscle through this first. | |
