Luna and Maru have learned that keyboards are off limit, though sometimes the temptation is too big. Yesterday I had taken my laptop downstairs, which was new for them. Luna had attentionitis yesterday and threw herself at my right hand when I was using my mouse. When I scratched her she pawed at my mouse and discovered the scroll wheel and that she could see the game reacting to it.

We once had a cat who was entertained by opening and closing the cd-rom/dvd tray of the desktop computer.

Luna’s new favourite sleeping place is the basket we put old newspapers, flyers, etc in.

In most law firms, it's a duty, an obligation and each partner bites the bullet and does it for a given period of time--typically, a year.

NOBODY wants to be the managing partner, but it's one of those "it's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it" things. Now, this may not be the case for @astrangerhere, but that's how it usually is, FWIW.

I'm a legal aid attorney. I literally only work for those who cannot afford to pay, so no, it was not about money or power. This is not a traditional firm, though I did work myself to death at one of those for seven years at the start of my career.

This job is part teacher (this is a lot of attorneys' first job), part manager, and part non-profit runner. I'm glad I'm doing it, its just been a lot of hours in these first few months. I'm still trying to get a lot of my processes automated so I can focus just on the actual legal work. Getting there, just feeling it right now.

Easter Monday. Where many Dutch person partakes in the tradition of going to the "furniture boulevard" (an area with many furniture stores) and buy things they don't really need.

I'm planning on going on a walk after I get dressed. Then I'm going to rush through my usual Monday cleaning chores, take nice long shower and spend the afternoon relaxing. I'm not sure how yet.

I'm looking forward to next Wednesday, when it's King's Day in the Netherlands. I have planned to do nothing useful.

In the past I usually had Sunday off, I might do a load of laundry, but I had the morning to myself and the afternoon I spend with my family.

Since my father went to the hospital six and a half weeks ago I haven't had a proper day off. On Sunday afternoon it's my turn to visit my father, I already start chores on Sunday. Because I now work full time I have to do the bigger chores on Sunday and Monday when the store's closed. On Monday I run errands, clean and do the laundry.

Next Wednesday it just my mother and I, my sister isn't planning on coming because of the festivities it'll be hard to get in and out of the city center. Which also means I can't visit my father that day.

Depending on the weather I might go for a morning walk (before it gets busy with partying people), in the afternoon I'll see what I'm in the mood for. It'll be noisy outside, so whatever I'm going to do it'll be whilst wearing my noise cancelling headphones.

The town is having its annual bulky waste pickup for the first time in three years starting tomorrow, so I’ve been humping the carp that’s been accumulating in the garage since June 2019 up to the edge of the road. It’s a WIP, but I’ve shifted the worst of it.

I'm just getting ready to go to bed and wondering if i'm gonna finish my book this weekend it's not as serious as some of you here though.

I am unwinding after thinking we might have to run from a grass and brush fire on our street. We had the car packed and ready to go. Huge amounts of smoke. It came to within a tenth of a mile from us. We have good local firefighters and they got it contained.

A person on the street was burning out of season with a high wind blowing today.

I just got back from a walk with my sister. We followed the canal around the old city center for half of its length (which is a long park, the other half isn't a nice walk). We ended our walk at the new US/UK expat shop to stock up on some favourites. I also discovered there's a scrapbook/craft store next to the expat shop. But it is closed on Sunday so I'll have to visit on a Monday some time.
