Have just gifted a load of childrens books, fairy tales etc, to the children of my Cousins daughter(!) The books were my Grandaughters, bought for her by me and my eldest son,but as my Grandaughter is now a stroppy teenager (with an attitude) I doubt if she would ever read them again!

Waiting for the hot water in my thermos to cool a bit, so I can put my teabag in it.

I love this tea, and I love my new thermos, it just takes long for it to cool down enough for teas that need cooler water. I keep the top off the thermos to speed up the process, but still.

I'm closing on a new house in a few months, so I am looking at DIY projects that I would like to build.

The first is a pipe and board floor to ceiling bookshelf. The house has a high-ceilininged first floor and I'd like to take advantage of that. I plan to order the pipe from an industrial supplier.

Nice! Would PVC be more or less expensive (or doesn't it come in black?) ?
I favor the IKEA Kallax style (or its predecessors):

Whats-its, ummmmm, damn, the name will come to me, ah, Restoration Hardware, had these TDF 1950s Dutch Shipyard Triple Shelving that I was dying to buy. We didn't have a good space for it, (we already have loaded bookcases there) and worse, we would have lost shelving space if we did, but they were scrumptious. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/232850243204246464/ (which I think anybody can see...IDK, I'm worthless at Pinterest or any of that social media cruft.)

Kallax's are good, but I would need far too many of them.

We currently have six 2.5 foot wide shelves that are filled to capacity. This would just let me toss all of those and have durable and expandable solution. Run out of space, just add a new row.

I am likely getting from a supplier that supplies pipe for furniture makers. Uniform coloring that way.

And now, doubly jealous...I would have killed for those RH bookcases, but my existing wall cases are 7'+ tall, and jammed. Couldn't bring myself to sacrifice the books that would have to go.

This is an older IKEA style that I'd never seen before, and probably isn't availably now (I couldn't find it in their catalog). But these were packed full, and an equal number of boxed books were retrieved from a storage unit, at a recent estate sale. Love the shelves; have no place to put them!

Yes, these cases are decades old now and the house we live in now has 12' ceilings in some of the rooms, 10' in the others, like yours and I *wish* I had shelves that would go higher. Oh, well...

Enjoy! I hope you'll share pics when you have them done!

I will! We're closing in August, but renting back to the buyer until later in the fall, so this will likely be my big Thanksgiving or Christmas project.

Have just emailed all the members of our little music group; we met up every two weeks, pre-Covid, and are hoping to resume this activity towards the end of next month! I have missed it!
