These were both "beginners kits", with stamped designs on 11 count fabric. The stamping dissolves in warm water when you are done.
Those look great. This is the kit I want to try out. I've looked at some YouTube videos on how to cross stitch and I think I find it easier with ring. I might order another kit in the same series and try one with and one without a ring. Also, I like the look of hanging it on the wall in a ring.

I've seen great designs on Etsy, both as a kit and as a downloadable pattern. In my mind cross stitching and embroidery is something that's very old fashioned and the designs are not to my taste. But then I've always heard horror stories of my mother's school days where she, someone who isn't creative, was forced to sew, cross stitch and knit.

That looks like a good starter design! I've done a few small smiley-face things which I mount using the ring (that they came with) as the frame. In fact, they were so small that I didn't remove the excess fabric around the ring, but mounted the whole thing, so that they were at least 4inches in size. For bigger ones, I just display the fabric on the wall. I'm not into frames; I like the fabric. (Besides, framing costs a lot more!) Have fun doing it; that's the important part!

How long does it take for some of those projects badgoodDeb? I mean I assume that the more complex the design the longer it takes, but I'm curious about how long on average such projects take.

Right now I'm just surfing the net a bit waiting to re-test my blood sugar before (hopefully) getting some sleep. Been slowly working my way through my apt. sorting out what to keep, what to toss and what to sell/donate. I'm overdue for getting that done. When I moved from upstairs to downstairs (shortly before my mom's passing) a lot of stuff was left in boxes which pretty much filled closet space. That was a bit over 2 yrs ago and I fell behind on it what with mom and then Lisa passing so I've been working on that slowly over the months of 'safer at home' etc. At least it gives me something to pass some of the time.

The succulent is part of a series of three different ones and there are also three flower designs in the same style. If I like it I want to order two more, probably a succulent and a flower, to put them up together somewhere.

If I like it I will probably not put up all of them. It's the same with diamond painting. I have a couple I want to put up, but most of them will live in my folder or will be given away to someone who likes it.

Congrats on the new car!

I got a new Honda Odyssey last December, replacing the old Dodge Caravan just weeks before its 17th birthday.

Right now I'm processing podcasts for the Odyssey's built-in media player. For some reason the built-in media player can only handle files up to a maximum of 20,000 KB and the podcasts I listen to come in at 45,000 to 55,000 KB. It's easy enough to split them with Audacity, but a bit time consuming during the saving processes.

I got the 2020 Honda Insight! Going from a 2005 Honda, the tech upgrades are kind of staggering. I am just continuing to let the in-car computer pull my podcasts off the phone via blutooth. Books will play off a usb stick, so I am retiring my old sandisk MP3 player.

Doing about 3 hours every night, and 6 hours on Saturdays, the simpler dragon-and-elf above took a month. The bigger dragon with castle also had more solid surfaces, and a ton of outline-stitch afterwards. That took 2 months.

So...huge fire, burning near the old homestead.

Have my go-bag ready (what else is new?); cat carriers are to the ready. Cat food, litter, spare catbox packed; trying to figure out what else has GOTTA go.

(sigh).

We've had nearly a dozen fires near us, this year alone. The previous 11 years, hardly any. I don't believe it's accidental or natural--I just don't. Too many, too close together in both time and geography (and magically spread out in a circle, around my area. Oh, sure, that's totes natural-occurring). If there's not an arsonist, I'll eat my dandy bunny slippers.

Aw, thanks. I meant to vent and rant, lol, but yes, that's what we were doing. I have all the crucial stuff--two cats, two cat carriers, one spare box, litter and food, and my CPU, ha! And of course, Mr. Hitch.

There's only one road out of here. Not just my street; the entier few thousand homes around here. One way in; one way out, as the fire is covering the southbound road. Same road, goes S/N, right? So, we can only get out and head north, if we don't want to 4-wheel over the mountains. Not great.

Well deserved though. I'm not a Liverpool fan, but they were by far the best team in the league and Klopp comes across as a tremendously likeable guy as well as a very successful manager.

I started my first cross stitch tonight. And after fighting with the floss at first (getting two strands from the six put together) it went pretty well, if I say so myself. The floss in the kit is quite long and I did use two strands, I didn't have any tangling but I can see that happening (especially if there are nosy cats around). So during my next session I'll double up one thread.

It's like diamond painting for me, just as relaxing, but on a smaller scale. Sure, there are smaller DPs but they aren't very clear. Cross stitching I can do in bed when watching TV, if the story line isn't too complicated I can follow it. At least I did with the two crappy horror films I watched tonight.

Talking to Amazon support, which had really gone downhill. I had a package delivered to the wrong address, I told her the photo doesn't match our house and that they can confirm by looking at our previous order delivery photos. She then asked if I'd like to leave delivery instructions for future orders... uh... yeah... deliver to my house, not somewhere else.
