I also hate buying cars. In the past I have gone to a dealership that has a flat price, no haggle policy. The price has always been in the "good deal" ballpark as noted in Consumer Reports. But that dealer is in Philadelphia and I didn't want to drive that far. This time I went through the Costco car program. Still happy with the price.

Good luck with yours!
Y'know, according to every (reliable) source I can seem to find now, you're really best off just buying online, which boggles me. You get the lowest prices. All the old paradigms about car buying seem to have gone completely out the window.

Mr. H and I are of differing minds about this. (He also needs a new vehicle, as it happens; his is 21, sigh). I know he'll get a new car. But I don't really see a reason for me to do so. I don't drive that much, now that we live in godforsaken; we save up trips, do big loops...I doubt I've put 10-15K miles on the old car in the 12 years we've been up here. It's ridiculous to buy "new" on the presumption that new means trouble-free, and as pdurrant mentioned, you get ALL the major depreciation that way. Why not let some other fool lease it and eat all the depreciation? The years 3-5 are the "golden years" IME for a used car in terms of best price versus depreciated value. After 5, it's true that car values seem to fall off a cliiff, but...why do I care, when I plan to probably drive the damned thing to my own funeral, anyway?

The internet has made this so much easier. I do my test driving and research in advance, know exactly what I want. When it's time to buy I search inventory, find the exact cars I want at a dozen or so dealerships within a few hours, make lowball offers by email referring to a specific car in stock, go back and forth by email 2 or 3 times mentioning other offers, get a to the penny out-the-door price, agree on a time, come in, sign, leave. Easy. I've done it a few times now (I drive a lot), and it's been easy and I get a great price.

Looking for ziplock baggies for my left over drills (the "diamonds" in diamond painting). You usually have left overs of each colour and I like to keep them as spares, in case another painting didn't have enough of a colour. They're sorted in square and round drills and on DMC colour.

I've run out of baggies, so now I need to order. Most of the websites offering them "smart" shops. LOL. We regularly order them for the store, but I can't remember which shop we order them from.

How about just regular grocery store "snack" size zip locks? They might be bigger than you want, though. About 6" by 3", at a rough guess.

I have those, but they are too big. My ideal size is 60mm by 80mm. I have some that are smaller, but now that I'm getting more spares it's nice to have a bigger baggie. Dye lots differ in colour slightly, but I mix them up. Although I tend to keep drills from one company in their own baggies since their drill quality is superb (low quality drills I dump, though that hasn't happened yet).

I found the store we use. I know that we're running low on a couple of sizes in the store. And they had some other things we need. So I can get my order with the store's, otherwise the shipping would be almost as much as the 1000 baggies I want to order.

I've decided to splurge and get the ones with the white writing strip, so I can write the DMC colour code directly on the baggie instead of using label stickers.

I'm ordering tomorrow. I'm hoping they ship quickly and it'll arrive on Friday or Saturday. Then I can kit down my finished painting (put all the extra drills in my spares box) and kit up the next smaller one. It's a green plant on a white background, I'm making it for my sister. I'm also working a very big one, that one's more colourful. I tend to work on one painting for a couple of weeks, then when I get fed up with it I switch to the other painting.

OMG. I am exhausted. We started what is commonly known as curbside (we're calling it DPL Takeout, complete with instruction "menu".) three weeks ago? Right after whenever the last time I posted was. It is only me and my boss running it. He's doing the hard part (the running bags out the door) and I'm juggling phone, email, online form, and Facebook messages, and putting the bags together for people to pick up.

We were affected by the widespread internet outage yesterday, which gave us some breathing room (no one could place holds on materials!). It also gave me enough time to try to solve an ongoing Calibre problem with no luck (I posted about it elsewhere and will see if the collective Mobile Read wisdom has anything to say about it.)

Hope everyone is well. I saw BadGoodDeb earlier in the thread *waves*.

Hi Shel! Have you got any protesters or looting out that far? We’re getting nightly curfews for a bit. Not that I was going anywhere, anyway!

Protesters yes, looters, no. There were rumors flying Monday that some people who caused trouble in Rochelle might be in Dixon, but fortunately, that wasn't the case. Lots of church vigils planned for this weekend around here it seems.

Pooh, Chris is still working from home and the hospital is talking like it might be that way permanently. Miss Tabitha is making me crazy. She's naughty with me in the mornings and then sleeps on Chris's lap all afternoon while I'm gone, just in time to be naughty when I get home again. Right now we're dealing with ear mites with all four cats. Such drama when I try to put drops in their ears!

My two both need ear cleanings--obviously, not on a scale with ear mites, but...even though they are positively sanguine about clipping coats, clipping nails (the male will lie there and let me clip his nails; the female, of course, is fussy about it and my other half has to hold her for me), and most everything else associated with care and grooming, EAR DROPS are widely known by cats to be possessed by Satan and not to be allowed in their ears.

I've approached military campaigns with less fear and trepidation than ear drops in cats--and less planning!

I just ordered five more diamond paintings from a new to me company. They use poured glue, which is better than double sided adhesive. Two bigger paintings, three smaller ones and a special type of pen for AB diamonds.

It'll take a while for it to get to me, but I got a stash and I'm not a quick diamond painter.

My baggies also came. So this weekend I plan to create some order in my spare diamond box.

Yeahhhh. So not looking forward to the dosing. Which will be in the morning, because Chris has his office strewn all over the house, trying to play Jenga with it to gain another foot or two of floor space.
