I've been pretty sick for the last four days. I caught a cold right before I flew out to California. I thought my head would explode when we landed.

However, the seminars were great, and I ran into a friend from 20 years ago, made some great new friends.

Tonight, I'm lying in bed in the hotel. They were nice enough to get me a long network cord so that I could work with my computer in bed, and I've been taking lots of meds and hoping that my ears won't bleed on the way home.

I found a cool little store in Berkeley that had some wonderful children's books I had never heard of (by Esther Averill), so I bought some, and am reading "Jenny Goes to Sea" tonight. It's not going to take all that long, it's a short book with big print.

I'll catch up on all the lunacy here later.

So sorry to hear you're sick, Ricky! It's those evil airplanes. Too many people crammed together, with air that's too dry... pretty much a situation designed to spread upper respiratory infections.

I hope you feel better soon. Perhaps the hotel could be kind enough to supply you with some hot water, lemon, ginger, and honey.

Sadly, I was sick before I got on the plane. I felt really guilty because I knew I was probably infecting a hundred other people. So, I tried to keep my nose and mouth covered the whole flight and the flight attendants left the seat next to me empty.

The people at the hotel have been wonderful. They've been making sure I have plenty of kleenex, and everything else I could possibly need to be as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. I will survive, and I will always be grateful to the folks at the Claremont ... great place.

Hey, that's my book you're talking about! The Channel Islands are much closer to France than to England. That's why Churchill demilitarized them and gave them up for occupation after the fall of France.
I have made two trips to Jersey. I had a lot of good, reasonably priced food, though I didn't have Jersey butter or eat a Jersey wonder (a donut trying hard to be a potato). There is/was a wonderful Portuguese restaurant on Bath Street where I dined on both trips.

No tea, but lots of Vitamin C laced liquids. I'm working on a Strawberry Odwalla right now. My cab will be here in about an hour to take me to the airport and then I fly home.

I won't actually wander in to the house until late (a little after 10pm), but it will be nice to sleep in my own bed, covered in cats.
