On the other hand, my plan was just to load the computers I have with free stuff for the high schools, which I think would work pretty well, so I'm not sure I actually need the money for them.

Well, I don't know really .... I went in to purchase a new phone today, but I'm not certain I'll keep it. It was expensive (very) and it doesn't appear to be what I was hoping for.

I may end up getting an iPhone, also not really what I want, but it may be better (and cheaper) than what I've got.

You know .... I may end up giving the phones to the troops, and just make a donation or something to your school. The raffle thing may be more trouble than it is worth.

Do feel better soon, and I'll look into prices for Wacom Tablets .... what size or sizes does your school need??

I think giving the phones to the troops may be a good idea, though I don't know as they'd work where the troops currently are.

I don't know yet what the schools need/want for Wacom tablets. I was thinking on the order of a Grafire or other low-end tablet, but I want to find out if the other high school has anything first.

The reason there are two high schools involved is that my daughter has a choice of high schools, since our town doesn't have one. At the open house for the default school, I got into a conversation with the art teacher about 3D and other computer-based art, and found out they had only one computer and barely any software. I happen to have two iMacs sitting here that I salvaged from my university (too old for anyone here to want, but still perfectly functional) so I thought I'd set one up and give it to the school. Then it turned out that my daughter will probably be going to a different school, so I thought I'd give the other one to that school. But I haven't had a chance yet to find out what they have and what they might need. I'll probably have more info sometime in the next week or so.

Apparently, AT&T is conducting the program. I don't know if they do something to the phones to make them work or not.

Let me know when you've got some more information. Since I don't have kids, and never will, it's nice to contribute something to the education of someone else's.

What a time for me to pop my head back into this thread... I'm just lost, so it isn't very different then last time... Wacom tablets and cell phones, two things I don't have... I don't have any female robots either... If you are going to go retro on that, might as well get the best:

Oh, much better today, and back at work. Yesterday I spent in bed trying too survive severe stomach cramps after 2 days of not being able to even keep water down .... But we won't go into that right now
