I hope someone can help me here.
I got a kindle paperwhite and have been trying to install that for 2 days.
Keep getting the message: "The device is not authorized as a test Kindle by the developer". I tried to install the Mobileread Kindlet Kit but got error message again.
I am not sure if the kindle is jailbreaked. It is FW 5.6.1.1 and won'r allow me to downgrade it to a jail breakable version.

You are not jailbroken. Follow the directions in the Universal Jailbreak thread.

If it is a PW-1, then FW 5.6.1.1 can be jail broken.

I am a newbie and probably will asking questions to which the answers are obvious to most of you - please bear with me. I am a retired electrical engineer, with limited computer background; mostly I was involved in telecommunications.

I am the owner of a Kindle PW3, and my current obsession is to make Calibre collections manager work on it.

So far, I have reverted the firmware on it from 5.81 to 5.7.y, have jailbroken it, and installed all the KUAL stuff and collections CollectionsManager.azw2. Today I found the 0010-Support-for-firmware-5.8.2.x.patch.zip file posted by ADambi.

Can anyone please tell me how do I merge the patch with CollectionsManager?

Mostly you don't.
That is for the use of the person maintaining this add-in (NiLuJe).

He posted in this thread recently that he intends to get all of these patches merged into the public repository.

He has just returned from holiday, so it may be awhile yet before he has a chance to do this work.

Note that in the mean time, @ADambi graciously provides binaries (the .azw2 filez), so you don't really have to deal with the hairy process of setting up a java buildsystem .

Which is extra hairy in CM's case, since you need a copy of most of the java classpath of *every* supported FW...

Hi and thanks for the 5.8.2 support!!! I tested it with my PW2 with jailbreak (reset to factory, downgrade to 5.4.2 FW, jailbreak, upgrade to 5.8.2, etc...)

It starts but I don't see any collection. There are some refresh problem with the menu and the navigation is very slow. The export to Calibre functionality doesn't work :-(

Can I help you with other specific test?

When CollectionsManager will have support for the Kindle Paperwhite 3 ? I have KPW3 with 5.6.5 firmware, i'll make jailbreak expecially for CollectionsManager, but not work (Manager loads, but it's blank, only "www.ixtab.tk" in the middle. Some elements appear if you press on the screen.)

The author has moved on to other things after being granted his PhD in computer science.

The only source of updates is from the people wishing to use the CM on devices not yet supported.
Every firmware for every device requires support code for that specific combination.
