I don't buy her being clueless about the lawsuit. This isn't the first time she stuck the foot in the mouth. There is a pattern.

I rarely agree with the reviews on Dear Author anyway, like I said, BD was a 1 star for me, I found it that bad, Jane gave it a C. Thats like a 3 star, which I give pretty decent books. Often their B's and A's are something I don't like and often their D's are stuff that I didn't find that bad. Still fun to check out the stuff. Once in a while I do find a gem this way.
It happened on Goodreads not DA which is why you didn't see it.

How lovely of her! Maybe the book will available elsewhere later? It was like this with several Carla Kelly ebooks.

But then how many Harlequin Presents with obnoxious heroes have gotten great reviews from the same people? Or how many paranormal romances with over-the-top aggressive alpha heroes? Is it OK as long as he's a tycoon or a werewolf? Young women won't get "ideas" from those stories? Do all these readers thing young women are that stupid anyway? (I read Woodiwiss and Rogers in high school but knew enough to stay away from men like the ones they wrote about.)

But sometimes readers almost get fixated on how much they hate a certain author, a certain type of hero, or whatever, and they have to tell the whole world about it. Kind of like when you ask me about Diana Palmer's Heart of Ice.

Still, in fights over reviews (and outright attacks and tweets), authors would be better served by ignoring the crap that's flung around. Or even laughing at it if they can. They will be the ones who come out smelling like roses.

(Closest smilie I could find)
Yeah I think you hit on the head there but what does an author do when a popular reviewer gives a bad reviews or makes nasty comments about the author herself then her followers do the same leaving bad reviews and nasty comments and most haven't even read the book? Some Authors can't ignore stuff like that because this where it becomes an all out attack. I've have seen this too many times.

It must have been someone here (Blossom?) who recommended Merline Lovelace. I am reading her Samantha Spade books (mysteries, but with a strong romance subplot) and adoring them! Thanks!

Yes I love her but I think someone else mentioned those books. Now I must move those books to my TBR pile.

This is going to be the last thing I say about that subject, I don't think that author or that book is worth more of my time. I saw everything, including what was going on on Goodreads and including what was going on on the authors side and her fans and facebook. She has left a long trail of bad behavior for some time.

My review is also based strictly on how I felt about it, not what someone else thought about it. There were actually friends on GR I follow that really liked it. I absolutely hated it.

Thankfully there are plenty of good books out there and authors to support. I just hope the Ellora's cave authors come out of this somehow thriving.

And I hope that the lawsuit goes away or is slapped down fast.

That was me. She was an author I discovered way back with her second book in 1994. Glad you're enjoying the Samantha Spade books.

Well, thanks once more then. I read the first on a train ride and irritated other passengers by giggling aloud. So funny!

I agree on the lawsuit I think it is nuts. DA has only ever reported the truth about EC so I don't think it will go very far.

$.99 Truly - Ruthie Knox KOBO LINK [geo-restricted on Amazon for me]

Quote:
RITA finalist and New York Times bestselling author Ruthie Knox kicks off a steamy new series set in the city that never sleeps—alone, at least.

May Fredericks hates New York. Which is fair enough, since New York seems to hate her back. After relocating to Manhattan from the Midwest to be with her long-distance boyfriend, NFL quarterback Thor Einarsson, May receives the world’s worst marriage proposal, stabs the jerk with a shrimp fork, and storms off alone—only to get mugged. Now she’s got no phone, no cash, and no friends. How’s a nice girl supposed to get back to safe, sensible Wisconsin?

Frankly, Ben Hausman couldn’t care less. Sure, it’s not every day he meets a genuine, down-to-earth woman like May—especially in a dive in the Village—but he’s recovering from an ugly divorce that cost him his restaurant. He wants to be left alone to start over and become a better man. Then again, playing the white knight to May’s sexy damsel in distress would be an excellent place to start—if only he can give her one very good reason to love New York.
