I have no problems with any reading apps on mine but I have the 2013 edition. The Kindle app works fine for me though the space it takes is crazy! The thing about the Kindle app is it's take a few hours to set up and sync everything if you have alot of books but once it's all downloaded and sync it runs fine.

I use Moon+ for reading though. It's the best out there for Android. Mantano would be second but it seems to have stalled in development.

$.99 The Opportunist - Tarryn Fisher

Quote:
Olivia Kaspen has just discovered that her ex -boyfriend, Caleb Drake, has lost his memory. With an already lousy reputation for taking advantage of situations, Olivia must decide how far she is willing to go to get Caleb back. Wrestling to keep her true identity and their sordid past under wraps, Olivia’s greatest obstacle is Caleb’s wicked, new girlfriend; Leah Smith. It is a race to the finish as these two vipers engage in a vicious tug of war to possess a man who no longer remembers them. But, soon enough Olivia must face the consequences of her lies, and in the process discover that sometimes love falls short of redemption.

I am still going to get a Voyage, but I have no real issues reading on my Nexus 7.2 with the kindle app. Its really snappy for me, especially after the latest update. I love the integrated whispersync on it for books where you also have the audio book and it puts it all together. There are kindle unlimited books where you get the audio along with the ebook.
I tried the Moon and a couple of other apps, but to be honest, I didn't like any of the fonts on it. I love the kindle caecelia best and its so easy to read and clear.

I mainly got my Nexus to read Scribd on it and some games and use for audiobooks. But I also read some kindle books on it. I think though I would like the lighter Voyage for kindle books. The Nexus can hurt by wrists after a while. And my Paperwhite 1 is so slow after that update that I can't even use it and the screen is so uneven and mottled its bad.

I'll wait until the first batch gets the Voyage and then I buy it.

You can use any font with Moon+ Or Mantano. You're not limited like you are on a Kindle. I even have the Scribd font and Caecilia on both apps though I prefer Amasis to read with.

I am thinking of selling my PW1 as you know it has no color blobs or discoloration so I think it will go fast.

I'd like to see if the new Basic contrasts is like PWs and Touches which is more gray than black. If it's just as dark as the K4Bs then I might get one later. Right now I am looking at the New KF HD 7 as it will allows us to merge account features like Prime. I'd like to use his Prime Music for a change none of our devices but my N7 or KFHD support it but Prime is on his account and I pay for Amazon music on my account. This feature alone makes me want one.

My Nexus has never hurt my wrist. Maybe it's the cover you use?

Thanks for weighing in on the Nexus 7. I find the larger Kindle fire that we have now to be awkward for reading in bed and I think the 7" screen would be a lot more manageable. For that matter, for the length of time I read before bed (usually less than half an hour) I might as well just read on my phone.
I have two older e-ink readers that I rarely use (the Kindle Keyboard and an older Sony). If I got a Voyage I think I'd sell the PW1 unless someone in my family wanted it. Three rarely-used devices is just too much!

I don't use a cover on my Nexus, it just gets heavy on longer sessions and I think part of that is how I have to hold it. I don't want a cover and make it even heavier. I have bad wrists.

I have no clue to where to get fonts or how to even get them on an app or what the fonts are called. The kindle app has all my books and it works great, so no reason anymore to use anything else. I guess all that fiddling I did for hours and hours in the Moon app was driving me nuts. I spend more time fiddling than trying to read.

With the sephia backround and caecilia in the kindle app, I am quite happy. The Nexus display makes it look really nice.

This is my cover it ads no weight it's makes holding the tablet a dream. I couldn't hold the N7 without one it's too thin. This cover gives me something to grip onto without adding weight. I have carpel tunnel and I can't hold eInk Kindles for very long but my N7 no problems I can hold it for hours with this cover.

I use my Nexus 7 (2nd generation) for most of my reading now. I don't use any of the bookstore apps. I use Mantano with Calibre Companion. I stored several different themes for reading with various background colors which I change to fit my mood.

I have a cover which does add a small amount of weight. It's the M-Edge 360 in raspberry/pink. I like it because it protects the corners of the device if it should ever fall (I am a tad paranoid about dropping my device). I also like the built in stand which can be landscape or portrait mode, though I don't use except when I am reading at the dining room table. For reading in bed I got the pyramid pillow Blossom recommended in another thread. (though Hog Wild wasn't part of the desciption when I bought it).

ATTENTION!!!

I know alot of you don't go into the news section of the forum but it seems Nook books are no longer downloadable. I highly recommend if you have any books to backup install Nook for Android and download your books then use ES File Explorer to move the Nook Folder to your PC. You can then import into Calibre the epubs in that folder.

Alternatively you can use Nook for PC but that wouldn't work for me but the Android app did and took less than 10 minutes to grab 700 books.

Good heads up, Blossom.
Minor correction: this item is posted in General Discussion: B&N removed download option on all books in "My Nook" library.

Right I thought it was in the news. I didn't post a link because last time I link to a thread it was removed for some odd reason.

To be honest, I've been concerned about a move to online reading since Barnes & Noble added the "read immediately" button (or whatever it's named) and Overdrive added the similar "Overdrive Books" version. I haven't succumbed to the tablet craze yet, and I've been afraid that eventually I won't be able to read anything (newly published) on the reader of my choice.
