Actually, there's a conflict in using both of those hacks at the same time. I was trying to find a solution for it, but got sidetracked. I really should take another look into fixing it.

Thanks again for the prompt response. As I said, it's not really that big a deal to me--I don't use the history very much, but as a Windows novice I was afraid I had done something wrong. I'm happy to know the trouble is in the program, not is the way I used it.

Nogg, will you be building in the Sony 505 hack methods [link below] into your great hackbuilder?

I'm going to try the clock, unified book list and new icons on store 505 to see if it actually works. If it works, then I might give it a go on my 505.

Fabulous!!!

Just remembered about this forum and last night ran the HackBuilder on my PRS500 - what a breeze!!!! Clock, icons, joystick control - just what I always wanted - hmmm - might have to reconsider my plans to sell this one for a 505 now!

Top marks to all who contributed to and built this hack service!

Is there a way to remove one of the hacks I have installed, or do I have to reflash the firmware and then reflash the hacks I want to keep?

You just have to reflash the hacks, not the firmware.

Its been months since I put the hacks on my device. Today I decided that I wanted to change the way I keys are defined. I made the changes, copied the files, and put the card in the reader. I pressed 5 and twice it came up with a error saying 'stat_fs not found', it then reset and nothing was changed. I tried this several times and yes the file is in the bin directory.

I did some research but most of the information was old so I am not sure how to fix this.

I saw something about space but I have 38 MB free. Also another post said about "ten times reset" and reflash the firmware. All of the posts for this error were under Universal Flasher which I assume this uses but I am not sure if its the newest version.

If anyone has gotten past this error, please let me know. I am not sure I wanted to be so radical to change a few buttons.

Thanks!!

Question Direct page control?

Hi.

I installed the hack with
- delete books
- blueLEDoff
- direct page control

Joystick enterHold is set to doEnterHold.

The direct page control does not work, a joystick press will have no effect. What could cause this problem?

(newest firmware, chinese enabled prs500)

Help appreciated!

Cheers,

jo.

Now that we have a firmware update for the 505, is there going to be a hackbuilder for firmware version 1.1.00.18040?

Well I gotta say I finally got around to customizing my Reader after having it for over a year and a half. I'd been meaning to get around to it, but never really made time until now... and boy am I glad I did it! Thanks for putting together the HackBuilder, otherwise I would have had to do a little more digging in other threads to get going. It was actually quite painless and easy, the only hick-up I had was knowing what to do with the files once made. I know, I know, but that was just at the beginning of the thread. I was under the impression I'd need to d/l the firmware loader to get things to work, but I later found it was included and I just needed to pop in the card. One thing I was kind of curious about though, was a few posts mentioned a sequence of numbers to hit to get it to flash. When I used it I only had to push "5" and everything happened like it should. Any idea what the other keys mentioned were for?

Anyway, a HUGE thanks again for compiling all this together for us! You rock!

Does the Hack Builder work on PRS-500 with Version 1.0.03.07170?

I had no success installing the script. After pressing 5, there was a reboot ending at the startscreen of the script.

Hm?

I have a working PRS-500 (same firmware as you) on which I installed several hacks using Hack Builder. I don't remember much about how I did it except that I followed instructions earlier in this thread and had no problems. I can't really offer you any help except to say that it does work for me.
