I got a laptop sometime in July and I had to setup everything dealing with eBooks again and it all worked perfectly. That includes nook which allows me to download from B&N.

You can port your whole Calibre install and your library by grabbing the Calibre library folder and the Calibre directory, installing the same version of Calibre, and then replacing the Calibre directory and catalog (in the users folder) with it.

Saves some effort re-setting stuff up.

True, but I was leery about how programs would work with Win10. Especially old buggy things like Nook for PC and ADE 2.0.

True. That reminds me, I haven't tried ADE 2.0 on Win10 yet, I need to install it in case I want to buy a book from google books.

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 10. I installed ADE 2.0, Calibre, Alf tools, Nook for PC, and Kindle for PC. So far everything works great. I was a bit surprised that everything worked the first time.

Isn't it sad that we've all been trained to think that something's bound to break after an upgrade?

Well, considering how complex an operating system is, it would be rather shocking if things didn't sometimes go wrong.

In fact, the only surprising thing is that it is as uncommon as it is.

Does it happen to port the alf info?

Thanks, Trice

Transferring calibre's configuration folder transfers all info stored by third-party plugins as well.
Third-party calibre plugins always store their settings inside the plugins folder in calibre's configuration folder.

Thank you for answering. I see the plugin folder however it is not in a configuration folder. I actually don't have anything named configuration.

My laptop is dying a slow death and I have a new one running windows 7. I am trying to recreate my program setup from my Vista drive. I have nook for PC up and running but I cannot get nook study to work to save my life. Both of them work on the vista laptop but won't work on windows 7.

And words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Trice

"The configuration folder" is not "a folder named configuration".
The configuration folder is named calibre.

If you weren't sure where calibe's configuration folder was, you should say something calibre has a FAQ entry for you: http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq....backup-calibre

If you have Nook for PC working, I wouldn't worry about Nookstudy. It's no longer needed for "Alfing." I know I had Nookstudy working on Windows 7 before I got my current Win8 PC, but I've had no reason to see if it still does.

I still have both Nook for PC and Nook Study working perfectly on my Windows 7 x64 PC. I had an odd PDF book from B&N that wouldn't open in anything except Nook Study.

eschwartz - Thanks for your patience. I see that the configuration files are not in the folders I had backed up. I will try this tonight and hope it works.
