The website's back up, but their changes broke all of my bookmarked search links.

And I'm running into this (repeatedly) while trying to work my way through my library, etc.

No way to use Nook for Web that I can see. Clicking on the book in your library just takes you to the product page. Then clicking "read instantly" only shows the sample.

I complained to customer service about that today, the customer service drone claimed that they are still undergoing an upgrade and I should try again later. This upgrade has been an unmitigated disaster. Oh, and right now I'm trying to "buy" a free book, I have $17 in gift card balance, and their painful website won't let be complete the transaction without verifying my existing credit card including the CVC code (at least I think that's what they mean in their Security code pop up window). I hope it's not something for the gift card, I'm not sure if I kept it after entering it.

Pretty sure they're looking for the security code for your default credit card. I "bought" a couple free books and that's what they needed (just one time).

Interesting that you can now put ebooks in your shopping cart. You can turn on "instant purchase", but then it really is immediate -- no confirmation step like they used to have. Since B&N CS probably wouldn't do a refund, I turned that back off right away to help prevent mistakes. The shopping cart is a bit of a pain (especially if it's only one book), but better safe than sorry.

ETA: The new website seems like a huge disruption for no improvement that I can see. I'm wondering if someone will be able to write a new Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey script.

Ditto, ditto, and ditto. Although, the "Thank You" confirmation message that appears after one buys a book states:

Yup, it was the CVC for my default credit card, but their new website doesn't make it clear. B&N still seems to have a semi-logged in state, where it knows who you are, but you aren't logged in sufficient to look at your Nook library or buy a book. I think that now you can check to see if you already own a book by adding it to your shopping cart when you're only semi-logged in, which I prefer over having to log in and discover that I own it, but it's still not as user friendly as Amazon where they list when you bought it if you are viewing an ebook or application.

Thanks for the link. I'll give this a try next month!

Ideally, i would like to simply buy my Analog and Asimov issues from Dell directly. It's the 21st century. Why do they need anybody else to sell the issues, especially as they sell them without DRM (as they should)? Sigh.

I just noticed that when you're logged in, search results have your email address, city, state and zip code embedded in plain text (no HTTPS).

Soooo glad I bailed on B&N the last time it took over 24hrs for my purchase to even become available for download from the website (back when you could still download without Grease- Tamper-monkey).

Did they even warn registered users about an impending upgrade that could disrupt service?

Not specifically I don't think, but they've been touting an awesome new and improved website that would launch in July (after being delayed a few times) through various outlets (no direct email though).

I just got a freebie from them and can still download to Nook for PC so that's good. Haven't been able to uninfect it as of yet, but that's likely more due to something that's changed since the last time I used Alf on a B&N file in Dec. than due to the new site.

I agree! (Add multiple exclamation points here!)

And if they really don't want to get into the retail aspect themselves it would be very nice if they added some place like Smashwords to their list of outlets -- no DRM and very easy to download. Although they would have to have a mechanism to remove back-issues that have "aged out." (I believe that their contracts specify that they can't offer back issues indefinitely.)

Come on, nobody can complain they didn’t give us enough advance warning:

When the site's first (incomplete) upgrade stage began I could still log in to "My Nook." Now, if there's a way to do it, I can't find it.
