before you download your B&N library, move the eBooks out of the directory they are in and then start fresh. Some of the ePub have been updated since first bought and this way you'll get the new versions if there are any.

These aren't friends--just authors. One of them is a fairly big name author who did a short novella on her own. I found her response quite rude when she said she would not be uploading to kobo and there were several requests for epub or other retailers. I had only read one of her books. It will be the last.

When uploading we don't choose the "pub" -- we upload a file in epub and it is "converted" to whatever Kobo wants. That said, I have written and requested that my files be epub 2 and not kepub and expressed my dismay that kepub exists. So far as I can tell all my books are epub2.

I doubt it will do any good, but I did express my opinion on the kepub stuff. I didn't get an answer about whether/when on epub3 or kepub as far as policy or choices.

Yes, you do choose the "pub". You can decide to do an ePub 2 or an epub 3 eBook. I'm saying to do an ePub 2 format eBook as there is a good chance an ePub 3 format eBook could very well end up as a Kobo only kepub and that won't sell well at all if it even sells.

Some of the BPHs are putting out ePub 3 (Tor for one) and I did take a look at a couple of the new ePub 3 and they were being sold as kepub only.

I upgraded to the newest version of Mavericks yesterday, and NOOK for Mac still doesn't work for me. It opens, but won't load any books.

And I am really bitter about Fictionwise, too. My B&N archive is full of Fictionwise books.

I looked at several very recent Tor books, including some published in the last month, and none of them looked to be sold as kepub only. The only kepub-only book I've bought (freebie actually), was from Penguin.

Nook for Mac worked for me under OS X 10.9.4, I just downloaded it yesterday. Are you logged in to your account? What happens when you log in?
After logging in, I had to go to B&N and update my credit card since it had expired. (Recall that the DRM is tied to your credit card... argh.) Then I had to refresh it several times before it realized that I *had* updated my CC.

Just an update: Nook for Mac finally works. I just left it alone for awhile, and now all of my books seem to be there and can be downloaded, as can my magazines (though I don't know what format those will be).
----------------------
It seems to have my current credit card information (that probably won't help with books I bought with the previous card), but the synchronizing "N" just spins and spins, and no books ever show up.

Not too much of a problem, since I've gotten NOOKStudy and the Greasemonkey script to work, so all my purchased books are safe now. I am curious why it works on some Macs under Mavericks and not others, though.

Thanks!

.
No, I do not choose. I can create an epub (and I do), but they "convert" it anyway. There is no way around this during the load process. I do create my own files for all venues that allow it, but they can slap DRM on there or reformat, or paint it green if they want. Right now I can choose DRM or not, but if they decide to convert to kepub, my only option would be to pull the file.

He's rich enough to still use $1000 bills, even though they're now worth like $7k each.
