In function: "quit"
I guess that will make it quit alright.

Now if the function name was: "quit_gracefully", then that would be another matter.

Hi

No OTA incremental updates

Since the 5.6.5. jailbreak I use Koreader on a PW3. Up to now, despite trying many times, I did not succeed a successful OTA incremental update.

I must add that I also installed the hack (backdoor something) to prevent silent Amazon updates.

Today for example, after wifi connection, a small window offers to update from 2015110014 to 2015110214.
After seven seconds -about-, it reports it failed and asks if it has to delete the temporary files.

Before that, with Kobo Glo, it worked flawlessly and I did it, many times without a single failure. Any advice?

@Niluje

vislab.bjmu (first choice on both)

It did not work either selecting second or third choice. It failed after about ten seconds (+).

Well

Things got much worse. Though I expected to have blocked kindle updates, I have been "hacked" by Amazon and it seems I am now on 5.7.2 or 3 which makes the use of koreader more awkward and unpleasant. I probably missed a button somewhere in the backdoor lock...

- To launch Kual from Amazon screen, I now have to search for it and it takes a while

- Even in Koreader, I now have a new Kindle top menu hanging permanently with the hour on the top right that I would like to suppress.

- When I quit a book to the filemanager and come back to it, it opens now with a strange font and do not remember exactly the last setting. I have to click two times on the embedded style button to get what I had

Misfortune.

@roger64: Try a mirror closer to you. (koreader-na is in Quebec, for instance ), the master is in China, latency and bandwidth constraints might make thing wonky.

The 5.7.x issues should be mostly resolved by the current OTA build.

That third thing is new/weird, though...

As far as koreader is concerned, the most unpleasant -for me- with the 5.7.2. (or 3) update is that insists painfully giving me on the top right of the screen the time (and sometimes the icon with the battery status) when I am reading a book. It sorts of "pops up" after a while, sometimes when I reach the middle of the page. It disappears when I turn the page and comes back the same just to remember me that I do not own this device.

I tried to display a full progress bar and then giving it a zero value eveywhere but it did not fool Amazon. The clock makes fun of me.

Oh great!

Hope I will be able to get it soon because the current 2015110214 OTA version is a no-go for me.

Hi

Updating

I succeeded to update Koreader to version 2015.11-175-g7b11491 using the Tools menu at the bottom of the Koreader main menu and then choosing Update KOReader option which is something we could not do on Kobo.

OTA incremental updates are still a no-go but this is less important now that I know how to update the other way.

Progress bar settings

I had lost a mini-bar setting which I reactivated using
frontend/apps/reader/module/readerfooter.lua (quite a hidden setting...)

I still have a thin horizontal progress bar three millimeters from the top even if I selected 1 for the progress bar options. There must be some other hidden setting that I forgot...

A good thing, the Kindle clock is now absent when reading. Thanks a lot for this!

Reader's setting

I recently had some problems to come back to my reading settings after using the file manager. This is now resolved and it works now normally.

Were you able to find a way to let KoReader display inline images in ePubs as inline images instead of block elements ?

I filed a question about it to github (#1813). For the time being this is still a recognized weakness in Koreader but I have read that there is some work ongoing to address it.

For now inline images (say floating images) can be displayed half correctly. By this, I mean that it's displayed like a raised cap, not inserted within the paragraph. To say it in another way, it's displayed inline but the float property is not recognized which ruins the intended effect.

You'll also find relevant info in post 6 and followings

Top progress bar gone at last

About this obnoxious top progress bar, it's my pleasure to report that it finally went away by its own will (!) when I opened the following book. (I had selected a 1 value for progress bar display).

Now Koreader on 5.7.2 is as fine as ever and very responsive (except for OTA incremental updates).

Thanks for the response. I am using KoReader on an Android device because it seems to be more responsive and tends to have better features than the default apps. It was only when I tried to read an ePub with mathematical equations and symbols that I noticed the deficiency in KoReader to display floating images properly. Another thing I don't like about KoReader is the fact that it relies on the CR engine and so all of the issues that beset displaying ePubs just transfered over. For instance, loading ePubs take substantially longer compared to other apps, say Moon Reader, which loads instantly. I find PDF support very good though.
