Hi. Since Nightly v2013.03-644-g06b6cc7b (the last one I had working OK...) I've been having issues with KOReader and the Screensavers on my Kindle PW.
When I close the lid / turn the Kindle off and switch it back on without leaving KOReader, I am left with part of the screen still displaying whatever screensaver was on at the time and have to touch the screen one more time (actually two, since one touch opens the menus...) to be able to read again. Bare in mind that I use the Frontlight Off hack and the Screensaver issue only happens when I open KOReader via KUAL, not kpvbooklet. Thank you in advance. Hi
Is it possible to associate pdf files with Koreader on Glo? I am %100 sure that I hate to use Kobo`s pdf reader to read pdfs on my ereader. thanks |

I'm a bit irritated: Your profile reads "Nook", this is the "Kindle developer's corner" and your question seems to be about running Koreader on a Kobo (?). As for running Koreader on a Kobo, see this thread: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=216960 - but a short answer: I'm not aware of a mechanism that plugs into Kobo's document choser, you would have to resort to Koreader's file choser.

It would be quite impressive if we could hack Kobo's Nickel to use koreader for certain filetypes. It would enlarge the target group of koreader users substantially! For now you could just install android for Kobo glo--see the Kobo threads-- and wait for Hawhill to work out the android backend for koreader. At least if you want icons instead of a filemanager for lauching files. Last edited by Markismus; 01-08-2014 at 08:25 AM. |

About that Android backend - it will take a while to flesh out the bugs, I'm pretty sure :-)
As for Kindle: Using KPVBooklet, Koreader can plug directly into the Kindle's document choser, yes. |

Here's a stupid question... and an even stupider one...
1. I have it all installed and it is working fine but it is more files than other installs I've done. From the nightly builds, is everything in the /KOReader folder necessary? I know that parsing the variety of information in PDF files is fairly complex. Still the idea of unused files on a device with only 2 gig of memory that I installed myself offends me. 2. Are there any other useful or entertaining apps than listed on the KUAL install under the (spoiler)? _______________ PW2, 5.4.2 Rooted with kindle-jailbreak-1.8.N KUAL |

1. Yes. It's not all that much, those files are mostly pretty small ones. Actually, the PDF parsing part is just a small part of it and a lot of it is contained in a single file - libmupdf.so. But the interfacing between the different parts of the Koreader application is written in Lua, a scripting language which is JIT compiled from source code - so the various program source code files are in plain view, rather than compiled into a single binary object. That's just a part, though. Configuration files, stylesheets, the graphical icons you see - well, we simply don't hide it :-)
2. That will probably depend on your idea of entertainment :-) But better ask that in the KUAL thread. And wade a bit through this board and the index (sticky thread at the top)! |

How to zoom manually on a Paperwhite?
I'm trying to find my way around in KOReader using a PW2, and I really like the stability and speed when reading PDFs (the native viewer runs out of memory every few pages).
However, I could not find a way to manually zoom in and out. Is that possible at all, or are the general options in the zoom menu (zoom to content/page width/height etc.) all there is? Also, when tapping on a PDF in the books overview, it is now by default opened by KOReader. Is there a way to reset this so that PDFs are again opened by the native Kindle PDF viewer by default? Many thanks! Leb |

bug : impossible to mark\select more than one word. This makes impossible to translate phrasal verbs, proverbs and idioms..
Possible bug - Internal links (tables of contents, notes, footnotes in the EPUB and PDF don't seem to work at least for me.. Please confirm if anybody can. |

Changing "view mode" to "scroll" will do the work. In order to look up words you need to copy Stardict format dictionary files(*.idx, *.ifo, *.dict) into koreader/data/dict directory.
