A little review of the PWs I received.

1st one
There's a little pinhole on the bottom but I can't see it with a normal reading distance.
With the light on in a dark room, I don't like the lighting, there's like a gray/green blob on 75% of the screen.
And some light leakage on top of the screen

2nd one
No pinholes, better contrast than the 1st one, absolutely perfect lighting (even and easy on the eyes).
But the screen is not straight. In the Kindle menu, I can see that the top black bar with the WIFI logo is not straight. And when reading, I can see a part of that little black line at the bottom that should be under the bezel.
I'm really picky about these things. Everytime I try to read a page, I have to look at this black line and that drives me crazy.

So I ordered a 3rd one.

I don't really think it is an issue at all. It's actually pleasing to my eyes...

Good luck to you both with your replacements. There are plenty of very good examples of almost flawless looking PWs, so if an imperfection bugs you about the one you've bought, return it until you either get a good one or demand a refund.

I don't really see much of a yellowish tinge from your photos, maybe it's just not showing up too well in the pics? In the photos it looks a lot better than the screen of your K4NT which looks really grey, and same with the Kobo Glo. However, on good examples of the new PW, the screen with the light off/low is lighter & creamier, so if you find it a bit yellow, I'd try for an exchange.

The most complaints of the yellow tinge have been related to the lights (see this post for an example of the variation), but some others have complained of the same thing you are talking about.

I've received my second PW2 today and while it looks darker yellow than yesterday's, it also seems brighter, which is strange. Can anyone see what I mean?

Also for some reason I can't work out I get an extra line at the bottom of each page with the new one.

Actually, the yellow on the second one is splodgy, I can see that on a clear page on vocabulary builder. The yellow is darkest in the top right, coming disn towards the bottom left

Do I try for number three? Or give up?

Oh your kindle is very nice, keep this if the light at 12-13 is even like maximum light.

I'm sending both Kindles back, get the refund for those then try again. It's too messy otherwise. I've had a bereavement in the family this week so it's not a good time to be doing this anyway.

The misalignment sounds like the first PW2 they sent me. Bizarre, since I don't recall anyone reporting these problems last year.

I like the more beige screen when unlit, compared to the geyish one. My problem was that on my second one, the light was yellow, not the screen, and it was very very yellow, like pee from dehydrated person - eeeeewwwww.
