If it is the screen or light layer causing the yellow tint then that might be another quality assurance issue. Not everyone is getting an overly yellowish screen, so there might be a lot of variations. It seems that many who report the overly yellow screens also report greyer text/font than on units with non-yellowish screens.

I often read in bed, using a lamp that points at the Kindle over my left shoulder. (Or more accurately, it points just beside it, or otherwise it will create glare.) I could read without any frontlight; I did so with the Touch.
However, the frontlight of the Kindle makes the page brighter; I raise it to *just* below the point where you start to see that the Kindle is lit by anything else than the lamp behind me. Setting the frontlight like this makes the screen more readable. What I like to know if the KPW2 changes the following... If I would raise the Kindle's frontlight more than mentioned, the screen does become brighter and whiter of course, but in a very strange way. As I said in another post some time ago, it looks like "milk between two sheets of glass with letters floating in it". It looks really strange, and the screen becomes really hard to read, at least for me. Also, the letters seem to look smaller, but of course they aren't. Does the KPW2 change this? I'm assuming that if I'm experiencing a too bright frontlight like this that there are more people around to whom it looks the same. |

I spoke to amazon about the pinholes in my screen and they sent me a replacement kindle that I received today. The replacement kindle has zero pinholes but instead has a slight green tint to it. I'll be keeping the pinhole pw2 for now.

It's sad when you have to choose between pin holes or color hues. I'd have chosen the one without with green hue too though.

Swiping is 'safer' if what you are reading has lots of footnotes. Also tapping can be balky with cold, dry fingers.

![]() I tried to read on the second one, the yellow one, last night, and the contrast is just worse than the PW1. I'd trade in pink-green blobs for a yellow screen with low contrast and sparkling dust particles. I was hoping for a better screen than the one I have, not worse. Plus, I like to use my own fonts, so I guess I'll just live without the vocabulary builder for now... Darn it! |
