Paperwhite Second Gen: First Impressions

I created a simple test book in Sigil to illustrate how a few different fonts look on the Paperwhite 2nd generation (see this attached screen capture from my PW2). I included a short paragraph for each font as follows:

• Caecilia Kindle font
• Caecilia Heavy
• DejaVuSerifEInk (by Katsunami)
• LexiaDaMa
• Amasis

I just wanted to see what various fonts would look like on my PW2.

I use Helvetica at size 6 of 8 on my PW 2012 and PW 2013 and they are crystal clear to my old eyes. Helvetica seems darkest and thickest of the available fonts.

I hope so. Size 6 of 8 is huge. (IMHO.)

I just finished reading my first book on the PW2. I read with the light at level 7 and it's perfect. No more harsh blue tint like on the PW1. Well, at least on my PW1 that's how it is at low light levels.

I received my new Paperwhite yesterday and I have to say that it's perfect!!! The light is beautiful, the screen looks great and I'm basolutely loving the experience!!! Still having a little trouble with turning pages on the touch screen ('cause I keep hitting the side of the Kindle where the buttons used to be on my previous Kindle... LOL), but I'm sure it will pass in a few days!

I also like to use the light at levels between 6 and 10. And I'm in love with this feature, this is exactly what I've been waiting for!! And I'm glad I waited for the 2nd generation Paperwhite, because it really seems like a perfect device for me!

The iOS app has something like Cloud Collections in the sense that you can see all the items that belong to it whether they are on the device or not. But they don't sync with other devices/apps. It was last updated September 17.

Kindle HDX may have something similar, but again the key feature is collection sync between apps/devices. I assume there will have to be an option on MYK to turn it off for people that do not want the collections to sync.

And I'm very curious about what it will look like when that is enabled: do you have to see all the collections on all the devices/apps? If you delete one from a device, does it go away for all the other devices?

They don't already have it. Amazon invited these reviewers to their headquarters where they explain everything about the HDX to them. If you want to learn more about Cloud Collections Google the HDX not Paperwhite.
According to Amazon the Paperwhite will have the same for Books, Docs, Magazines and Periodicals.

Several reviews said iOS app already has this feature but It seems to me that is not the case which is why I asked someone to confirm it.

Nice test! My imperfect eyes like the Caecilia Heavy and the DejaVu.

You are very fortunate!

I took my PW2 to my elderly friend, 89, dry macular and one cataract. Set light to max, helvetica to 8 and the best she could do was guess one word "Chapter 3". She gets books on tape from the Blind society and hates it.

That was my first hope/thought as well.

I got reply back from my request email, from a guy named Raj. It kind of looked rather canned though. I'm not sure what the email address is. I fished around on their website in the support area. They really should have a VERY obvious Send Request and Feedback section, but I found everything including Waldo and Nemo way before I found it!
