I have found a bug.

With firmware 3.1.1 setting the brightness to minimum (1%) makes it so that the light doesn't come back on after sleep.

It's a known bug, it has nothing to do with the night mode, I solved with an hard reset, then manually updated to 2.6.1 and finally to 3.1.1, the trick is to pass through 2.6.1

I can't be bothered to do that.
I'll wait until the next release fixes it.

I attempted to fix the bug with Aura (non-HD) this evening. It seems to be working for me, so you're welcome to give it a try. The screen does seem to refresh between every page, but at least they're showing up as inverted.

I have only tried this on an Aura and no other Kobos, so I make no guarantees.

The installer is at:

https://mega.co.nz/#!NxoXjJoT!DJLCcS...mQlOnmr7suOBpg

and the uninstaller is at:

https://mega.co.nz/#!RgYxWDwD!WDg72h...gdwtcDnhHBZ8mw

Let me know if they work for you.

Anybody else going to test this on an Aura HD for KenMacD? I've tested it and it's working flawlessly on my Aura HD -- but I'm sure he could use a couple more testers to chime in with an OK so that he can roll it out in a public release.

Again: installed just fine for me. I love it!

I also installed it - a very simple process. I've had no problems, so far, fingers crossed.

Well done, KenMacD, karma to you

I didn't install it since I'm still using the test one made by yoq posted on page 18 of this thread and after what happened with the one "final" one that was bugged and that he removed I didn't want to take any unnecessary risk ;-)

But I have a question for those of you that did install the one KenMacD made (thanks for that anyway... the more people develop this stuff the better, we love you guys)...

With yoq patch the colors of the cover of the book in sleep mode (or better the black and white) are inverted while I seem to recall that that wasn't the case on the Glo (can't check it since I gave it as a gift to my parents). It's something I don't like (altough in the end who cares... I'm happy enough that I can use the inverted screen while I read a book)... so the question is how is the cover of the book when you go in sleep mode with KenMacD? Normal or inverted?

I believe that ALL screen draws are inverted, so yes... the cover display would also be inverted.

Peter T is correct, linux1999 -- all the patch does is invert the screen, so covers are inverted too, on all models.

Working fine on Aura HD, just some minor ghosting.

Hi guys,

I'm having a bit of problem with this night mode. I have a kobo aura running firmware 3.1.1, and when I installed build 10 it seemed to work fine. But when I reconnected my kobo to my computer later on, it would connect, then immediately disconnect and restart about 3 seconds later. I managed to get the installer on there in one of the 3 second lapses, and my kobo is working again, but I was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem?

rainshine, build 10 has been withdrawn, in favour of a new, unnumbered build linked in this message:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...&postcount=304

Build 10 did indeed cause all sorts of problems/reboots on the Aura.

So no problems with KenMacD's build for the Aura running 3.1.1?
