For now, the versions I've posted work with calibre 8.12 and if Kiwidude wants to make the changes then he can and then replace my changes with his. That (IMHO) is the best way to do it.

My recompile of calibre 8.12 to use MSVCP 1.44.35207 to test the issue I'm seeing with calibre's Open With and a Sigil version using Qt 6.9.2 is useful for my test purposes but I'm not about to distribute the result. I regard your plugin modifications much the same way though they should not cause any issues other the current issue which is not that easy to trigger.

I looked at the parse_html documentation and examples and it's a lot more work than I am able or willing to do. Not to mention the need to test those changes.

parse_html is fine for html, RECOVER_PARSER is for xml. Kovid has included now in his message which function you can use for xml.

I usually do this manually, but this plugin should be able to do it, right? Plugin is installed. I changed the cover size in Preferences ->conversion->output options to 600x906. Clicking on Modify Epub gives an error. Doing a convert Epub to Epub gives a smaller file size, but the image size in Calibre is unchanged. The only things checked are removing embedded fonts, inserting or replacing the cover.

I have been using calibre for a long time, but I'm not familiar with this plugin and may be doing it all wrong.

Update to the newest version of the plugin.

Look up two posts. The RECOVER_PARSER issue is specifically mentioned.

I don't get why some do not update the plugins when calibre notifies them of plugin updates.

Some of these were really reminders to change fluids, but there was a $$ charge to just clear the light if you were a DIYer.

This is probably peculiar to me, stems from configuration management practices on antiques such as OS/360, MCP, RSX etc.

If I don't need the changes, which is almost always the case, I defer installing plugin updates until I install the next release of calibre. I normally update calibre on the day of a new release.

However, version 8.12 was an exception. I was out of action on the day it was released, when I saw the RECOVER PARSER problems I decided to stick with calibre 8.11. Consequently Modify EPUB and Count pages are waiting for calibre 8.13.

I do update the plugins..

I have remove fonts checked and it did that. However, modify cover did not work. I've also tried converting EBUP to EPUB, and that didn't change the cover size either. I have the output set to 600x906 in shrink larger than.

I went back to calibre 8.11 from 8.12 because of RECOVER_PARSER. Then I mentioned this in the calibre forum. Kovid gave me the answer to fix the plugins which I then did. So back to 8.12.

Because I'm using the backup plugin, I can update any of the plugins without a worry. If I have a problem with a new version that I did not with the older version, I can revert very easily.
