Neither of my Kindles (PW3 & PW4) feature this option yet even after numerous reboots. Both are running 5.13.5. One of them is set for Japanese region. I’ve paid to remove ads from my Kindles. I wonder if that has something to do with it. Anybody here got this new feature working with an ads free Kindle in the states? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

You'll get the feature on 17th. They're doing an A/B testing feature rollout. I haven't got it either.

The next model, the Glowlight Plus (2015) was great. Flush screen, 300ppi, waterproof and no segregated area for sideloading. But then B&N was playing games with their DRM and the ability to download books. I did wind up buying a 2015 Plus and the next model, Glowlight 3. I do like their hardware a lot and really, I'm okay with their firmware. If the database could be accessed by Calibre so I could control tags and series externally, this user would have no complaints. But I now buy my books from Amazon. |

Actually, there is another aspect to this that I haven’t seen discussed. The cover lock screen is part of a new feature called Kindle Curator. For ad free devices it allows the cover display, but for devices with ads there is also new software to run more complex ad campaigns on the lock screen. Apparently no one has noticed that. |

Now Kindle can set current ebook cover as lockscreen

It looks like I’ve got it reversed. I already paid for ad removal ages ago. So my Kindle is qualified for the new feature. I can see others in the States have it running on theirs. I’ll just be patient until it’s my turn. I did find this update posted 13 days ago that I thought others would like to see: https://www.amazonforum.com/s/questi...k-cover-option Code:
Welcome to the Digital and Devices Forum! New Display Cover Feature is available on select without-ads Kindle devices, including: Kindle (8th and 10th gen), Kindle Paperwhite (7th and 10th gen), Kindle Oasis (8th, 9th, 10th gen), and Kindle Voyage (7th gen). We're rolling this feature out now in India and Mexico. It will be available in the coming weeks to customers globally on select without-ads Kindle devices. To view book covers on your Kindle lock screen, you must enable the feature from your device Settings. Go to the Settings tab. Select Device Options, and turn on the Display Cover option. Our development team is still working on the feature and this is all the information available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

From what I read on that other forum, it doesn’t seem Amazon will draw a distinction between those Kindles that came ad free and those that had ads removed, but I could be wrong. Who knows? 🤷🏻*♂️ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

It's not very smart though. It's currently showing an ad for a book that's "Next in Series", but it's already on the Kindle. I bought the book through Google Play, converted it to AZW3, and sideloaded it. I also saw a feature yesterday that I've never seen before. I have several sideloaded books in the same series and the Kindle offered to open the next book when I finished one. Amazon doesn't know I own any of these, so this feature is working independently of the Kindle store. |

I purchased a kindle paperwhite with ads and had the ads removed after purchase (customer service even did it for free - very nice) and the lockscreen cover works fine for me (germany). I'm still working out the exact details of getting covers to work on sideloaded books, but so far, I've made pretty good experiences with converting books to azw3 through calibre and transferring them via usb.

Upgraded my Voyage (7th gen) to 5.13.6 (the update after .5) and still no cover art for me. My kindle is ad-free. Amazon is so confusing on this "feature".

I've got the cover feature today. Still, it's not working for like 70% of sideloaded azw3(kf8) books. Tried searching
