Not if you don't have ads but do have a sleep cover. On my Voyage I basically have to push the on/off switch if I want to see this new feature. Otherwise I just get a very quick glimpse when I open its cover.

That's what I would see, if I used this new, creepy, unKindle feature.

I do have to swipe the screen after opening the cover, since my Oasis has ads. It's no big deal, and doesn't bother me.

I recall I first had this feature on a Sony 650 10 years ago. It was fun for a while. I didn't have to pay for it either. Now I use an Onyx, and I can't even recall what is on the screen before I open the sleep cover.

Just clarifying. I've never paid the $20 "ransom," but my used Voyage was ad-free when I bought it.
