There is a free iTunes download of the Crown Conspiracy as a podio (like a audiobook podcast or something, I could be wrong on the category name). The narrator doesn't do voices very well though. | |

I just finished re-reading "Strata" by Terry Pratchett. It's been a long while since I last read it, and must say I found it very good. This is one of his very early novels - pre-Discworld. Indeed this book shows him pondering a type of disc-world, right down to the rim-falls, from a science-fiction perspective. It has some humour but less than we get used to seeing in his other books. An easy but still entertaining read ... and I see it is available as an ebook for those who don't have it on paper.

I just finished "But Can You Drink the Water" by Jan Hurst-Nicholson. It's about a Liverpool family moving to South Africa. It's meant to be humorous fiction, but I almost felt it was more literary (with a lighter side) in nature. My Review.

Well, I'm reading the outline of General Theory of Law and State -- a good book, especially for those whose final exam coming close |

I started on Elantris but the book feels gloomy and not very uplifting. I think I will move on to something different.

I finished Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters, the first in the Amelia Peabody, series today. Not too far in the book I realized that I have read it before, I think my mother might have the Dutch edition and I read it in my early teens. I loved it! Amelia is so likeable and her actions and thoughts are realistic and recognisable. This is one series I will continue to read. Now on the the second installment of the Hamish MacBeth series Death of a Cad. I'm still not sure what to think of the main character, hopefully you get to know him better in this book. |

I am reading Soul Identity. I plan to finish it, but it is sort of a drag. I like the idea of the story, but it is badly planned and written, and full of plot holes. I think a strict editor could have made it terrific, but as-is, it seems amateuristic. That is a shame, because the premise is so interesting.

I am finishing up the third In Death book. I liked how we get more to Eve's past in this one. I also started Undead Heart last night. I only read like 25 pages, so I don't know what to think yet. |

Just finished The Name Of The Wind, found it excellent. Good use of an interesting narrative structure. Still inching forward on The Guns Of August, I'm often a slow read of history. Probably going to start De Bello Lemures for my next fiction read.
