I went for a cardiac echo today with a bubble test. It took a full hour and multiple attempts to get the IV in. I think I'm going to bruise later.

Ouch. Don't let a doctor near you. Pick the oldest nurse there.

They had multiple nurses trying! They even called one from another department to try (had to wait a while for them). I have stupid veins.

hmm, I had similar issue for a simple blood test where the nurse would seem to play with the syringe needle inside my arm, doing zigzags. I'd need to do these tests quite often until 2018 and never had experienced this before...

I once had a blood test where they forgot to remind me not to eat before the test. The results were off and I had to do another blood test. The 2md test was good.

I have regular blood draws for thyroid function (and others) and they sometimes have to resort to the dreaded butterfly needle. But TBH I would've actually preferred it over the repeated stabbing and digging around.

That reminds me oh so well of my wife's last visit to the hospital before her passing. They had GIGANTIC problems in Emerg getting an IV line in; kept calling on staff from different areas to try. Finally after several hours they succeeded.

When my doctor wants me to have some blood tests done, he uses a butterfly needle. Having to visit a pathology centre for someone to do what any doctor can do is a racket… fortunately both my current GP and the previous one recognise this.

Different if it's regular and frequent. When I was on warfarin (rat poison) I had to have fortnightly, sometimes weekly, blood tests - drove me nuts and bananas. I'm on a different medication now, one that doesn't require regular blood tests.

For those who don't know a 'cardiac echo' is an ultrasound image of the heart, I have one coming up in a couple of months.

Yes - and the bubble test is using an IV solution that makes tiny bubbles to check for a PFO.



If there's a PFO, the bubbles cross to the left atrium.

It's the time of year where I'm wondering whether I'm getting a cold or whether my hay fever has started again. Considering the amount of sneezing my guess is it's hay fever. I took a hay fever pill so we'll see if that works.

One friend of mine decided that I needed a heart attack and sent me the attached image from amazon.ca. The rest of the pages using their search terms didn't do much to help. When you see a box of Kirkland coffee pods that you can buy at the local Costco for less than $50 being sold for $85 or a pack that the local Walmart sells for $22 or 2 for $34 for $52. Sheesh, I know coffee is getting more expensive but when most of the coffee pods being sold are more expensive than trundling over to the local Starbucks for a grande Pike Place. I sorted by price high to low and even on the 4th page, the prices were ridiculously high compared to the local brick and mortar stores.

I blame my parents. My father never drank coffee and my mother drank instant. When I'm at a restaurant I do notice and say, "Wow, this tastes like coffee!" But most of the time I can't be bothered.
