You mean the ones who swerve around the cars that are trying to merge until they are nose to nose with the barricades? The ones who seem to think the merge point is where the merge lane has dropped to zero width and not where the taper starts. The ones who think merge like a zipper means that when the person in front of you in your lane merges, you need to merge to stay immediately behind them.
One of the many things I don't miss about commuting to work. |

Yesterday was supposed to be our last day in the store. From today the new owner's building team was to start. But, as expected, we weren't finished (and as expected I'm getting blamed for that). But the new owner called yesterday, that he's coming by with the carpenter to look at the outside door of the basement and road access. So we have three extra days to get out what we want to get out of it.
So yesterday and today I'm not just working mornings, but full days (yesterday 10 hours instead of 5). My sister has a week off work and she's also helping. And I'm also expected to give up my free weekend. My father's now upset that I want compensation for that, I gave him several options. He thinks I should do it for free, for family. I would if it wasn't for the fact that for almost four out of the last eight weeks he barely did anything. I packed up 99% of the things that were packed since early July. He only came downstairs a couple of times a week wandered around a bit, say he would go downstairs after my hours were finished and then never did that. He did take the things I packed away, either to person who wanted it or to his storage unit to later be picked up by others. The last two weeks we've been taking down the shelving system he wants to keep. That is not something you can do on your own. And the last couple of days he's been sorting (and my sister and I putting it in the correct pile to be thrown out, stored or taken/picked up by someone else). That's something neither my sister nor I could do. The reason why he didn't come and help downstairs for half of the time we've had is "because he didn't want to be in the way of me". Our store isn't big, but it's big enough for both of us to work on our own things. If he had helped we wouldn't be in this situation. So I'm not going to work these hours (at least 21 hours, probably more) for free, since it was entirely preventable. |

Peeve of the Day, highly paid journalists who attribute quotations to the wrong person.
Today's culprit: David Crowe. Sydney Morning Herald, Chief political correspondent who wrote Quote:
You'd think a senior journalist, published author and winner of the Federal Press Gallery Journalist of the Year Award would fact check his own work - especially given his chosen subject matter. Needless to day my Comment at the SMH didn't get published. Q. what happened to the Politics and Religion Forum |

OK I’m very angry today. There was a water pipe break in my building and apparently flooded out the elevator shaft, so not only did I not have water, the elevators are down. I have no idea when we’ll be back up. I am guessing they are drying it out. Also, I paid for overnight delivery to an Amazon locker when I ordered the Kobo Elipsa 2E and that asshats at Amazon tried to deliver at 6 AM when the businesses are closed so I have no package. I have to wait until tomorrow probably before they re-deliver. That is if they deliver weekends. I am so pissed off. if I have to wait until after the holidays to get my device, I’ll be mad. but then again, what does it all matter when I don’t have any elevators working. I’m not physically able to walk up and down nine floors worth of stairs.

I'm annoyed at how long it takes PostNL to deliver international mail. I'm waiting for something I ordered from the UK, which should fit in an envelope. On Monday I paid the import duty and "their getting my package ready for a quick delivery". I don't know if the delay is with PostNL or at the import duty department, but it's annoying.
It used to be that most international mail and packages were delivered timely, except for packages from China (AliExpress). But a couple of months ago PostNL had staffing problems and everything (national) was delayed. Since then it's common you have to wait over two weeks from the day it is registered in their system for your international mail/package to be delivered. |

What's the scam?
Woke up this morning to several emails from chewy.com about an order that was placed. And then a duplicate order placed. Call us. Confirm this order. Do you want to cancel this order. Like 6 emails. Yeah, that wasn't me or anyone in my family ordering a pack of Sheba cat food. I haven't ordered from Chewy in a while. All orders shipping to my house and using my credit card. One order we got canceled, the other already shipped but they'll credit for it and I can keep it. Needless to say, my password is changed and I no longer have a card on file with them. I just can't figure out the point of ordering and shipping the stuff to me if you're trying to scam $25 of cat food. |

one thing I would consider is:
if they do that for a hundred credit cards on file, and few people complain, that's probably interesting I vaguely recall watching a movie that involved a health insurance issue, which suggested something similar was going on |

Nope, no sleep meds. I occasionally take a benadryl but not lately.
I'm more inclined to think a hack of the Chewy account rather than the credit card. I should have removed the card on file once I no longer needed the auto ship orders I used to have on there. I dislike leaving credit cards on file at sites I don't shop at often. |
