I only heard the mosquito once last night, so that was good. I still haven't found my zappy swatter, I know I recently came across it, so I'll have to look on Sunday for it.

I’ve found that when I give up, and buy a new one … the logical place I pick to store it already has the old one in it. Sigh.

I expected a package on Thursday, but the weren't able to deliver it. They didn't specify why, but I suspect the delivery person saw our closed store and didn't read the sign on the door that he should ring the doorbell to drop off his package.

I've changed the delivery method to have it delivered at a locker nearby. But that means I have to go there after work today, when it's 31℃.

It'll only get worse when we close our store. I'll be making a bigger sign to put on the door, including the same text in English, as I've noticed that more and more delivery persons don't speak Dutch. It probably won't make a difference, but one can try.

I was once sitting at the window waiting for a delivery. The Purolator truck pulled up, sat in front of the apartment for 30 seconds, then drove off.

A few minutes later I got a "delivery attempted" email, which amused me greatly.

For the first time this year it's warm in the bedroom, almost 25℃ (I know it isn't that warm for many of you, but less than two weeks ago I still needed to put my heater on in the morning). And I'm now annoyed that my hair isn't long enough to put in a braid tonight. I hate to have hair, even shorter hair, flopping about when it warm/hot at night.

It looks like it will be this years' first night with a fan on in my bedroom. At least my new Dyson is quieter than my old one.

I live in the city center, if it's busy on a Saturday and they can't drive up to the front of our house I'm SOL if DHL is delivering (it isn't allowed on weekdays either, but it's quieter so they just do it). If they are on the other side of the city center I'm also SOL; it can easily take half an hour by car to get from one end of the city center to the other, because it's pedestrianized and you almost have to exit the city to get to the other side of the center. If it's delivered when our store's not open it's often a problem.

That said the delivery man of PostNL knows we live over the shop, so he always delivers. He once told me he doesn't do deliveries before 10am in the city center, since he knows a lot of stores are still closed. He's been our regular delivery man for over a year now. So he'll probably be replace any day now with someone new who doesn't know the ins and outs of the city center and his/her customers.

Solution... Never ever put your stuff away. Otherwise, you'll lose it. Leave it where you last put it.

I am glad I can go without air conditioning unless its in the 90s and humid. My apt is on the 9th floor and in a shadow so it remains probably 10 to 20 degrees cooler than outside. I think we are spoiled. I grew up with no air conditioning. Not even a window unit. All we used were box fans. My desk is by a window, i can just have it open with a fan and im good
