Counting down until King's Day is over. The noise levels aren't too bad (compared to other years). Last night I didn't even need to use my noise cancelling headphones.

Today the noise levels are similar, but where last night you could only hear the stage on the nearby square, today it's the stage, loud music from cafés, shouting and singing people in/outside those cafés and a get together in one of the neighbours' gardens. So while the volume is okay it's a lot of noise.

The performances on the stage end at 7pm, 3 more hours, but since it's a school vacation and a lot of people have taken tomorrow off work I expect the noise from cafés, people and the garden get together to last a lot longer than on the usual King's Day.

I am having either excess mucus allergies or a cold since Monday night. I'd been trying to expel stuff that was deep in my throat for a few weeks. I am coughing soon after I go to bed (lie down and the throat gets the mucus tickle). I took an at-home covid test twice (Tuesday before I went to PT and today) and it's negative both times. I don't feel like going anywhere and stayed in the past two days without even going downstairs to check mail. First time I've missed 4 days in a row of swimming in a long, long time. Add that cloudy, rainy, damp weather that is bad for my knees and back.

I hear that the Covid tests don’t usually show positive till the fourth day or so. Make sure you also take a test in that time frame.

Me too on the productive coughing. In my case it's due to the high levels of mold spores and tree pollen. The only good thing about our current rainy weather is that the spore and pollen counts are way down. For now.

With the current variant of concern, and the current self-administered tests, you really can't count on a negative test at all. A positive test -- yes, you have it. A negative test, unless it's a PCR test? Well, maybe yes, maybe no.

I tested for Covid on Tuesday and Friday. I also tested a few weeks ago because I was feeling bad and wanted to rule it out.

When I got Covid last June, my symptoms were of a cold and that time I knew it felt like a cold and not allergies -- starting with a very sore dry throat. This time I've had mucus throat, not dry sore, but I have sinus headache and it hasn't changed in 5 days. Weather has been pretty bad (cloudy, rainy, colder than it's been) and I stayed inside since Thursday and only went out on Wednesday to buy cough drops and tissues very close by. It was cold then as well.

For a while now I've been casually looking for a good desk lamp that will meet certain requirements. It has to have different colour temperature settings (daylight for crafting to warm white for regular use), I want to be able to change the brightness and it should be a table/desk lamp, not a clamp (won't work in my current set up and it won't work with my future set up).

I was able to find ones where you can change the colour temperature and the brightness, but they all had table clamps.

Now I've heard a lot about Ottlite in the cross stitch community so I checked their website and found several desk lamps meeting all my criteria. But I can't find them in any Dutch webshop. Ottlite themselves don't ship to the Netherlands. I'd prefer to order them from a Dutch or European store; because of warranty and because it has to travel less distance (less chance of damage). And I have to know if the lights can handle 240 volt. I emailed Ottlite. Hopefully they can point me to a shop I can order it from.

Another life is ebbing away after years of addiction. A nephew on my husband's side is on a vent, and unresponsive, after some type of event that stopped his breathing. He was clean/sober after years of pain med abuse. He recently had back surgery, and was on highly controlled pain meds, only a few days worth at a time and a fiancé who managed them.

Yesterday he took some pain meds, and fell asleep on the couch. She noticed his breathing was off, and he stopped breathing completely. She called 911 and did CPR until they got there.

He is in a coma and non responsive. Initial brain scans show significant damage.

Lots of baggage, years of abuse, he is 49. Most of his immediate family lives in other states, they are traveling in, his mom is staying with us after a frustrating delayed flight.

I really liked the Balance or the Pivot. The Pivot will be, I think, the best for crafting and working, the Balance looks nicer. If I can I would probably get both. Since my sister and I are planning to get a bigger house, with space for a crafting room I can use one there and one on my desk.

Thank you. This issue wasn't from his addiction, at least not directly. He had apnea, the doctors think that is what happened, or that and a combination of aspiration and apnea. The big family meeting was yesterday, it was dreadful.

They will do tests this morning for viable organ donations, then declare him. There is no money, so a simple cremation, and a family memorial at someone's home later this week. His kids can't really afford to be here long term, they live in Texas. Daughter is just 21 and has 3 kids, twins were just born in September. Son is 25 I think, no kids. His girlfriend is devastated.

The doctors have been great, the doctor who ran the meeting yesterday was factual yet compassionate. I don't envy her job for a minute.

I'm still having the same sinus problems, especially in my throat. Coughing mostly when I am trying to sleep. I decided to go to City MD (urgent care) today to test again for covid, but a PCR. I was going to go Sunday, but they close at 6 on the weekend and when I started getting ready at 4:30 it was raining quite hard and I didn't want to go out in it. Then there were thunder storms.

I also wanted to see if they could help me. The first thing the assistant asked me was my name and I couldn't get it out. My throat was clogged with stuff and I started a coughing spell. Even after she got me some water, I had the problem, so I too a cough drop from my bag. The doctor didn't know what it is, but he checked my breathing for pneumonia, which it isn't. He mentioned Prednisone and I told him I'm not taking that. He gave me prescription for a cough suppressant. I thought it would be a syrup, but it's pills. Benzonatate, which I'd never heard of, so I looked it up after I got home. He also prescribed an antibiotic to take if this is still going on after 5 days.

I won't know the PCR test result until at least Tuesday or Wednesday.

I had covid a little more than 2 weeks ago and one of my symptoms was a sore throat, so much that even swallowing saliva hurt, but I had no respiratory issues and no cough, the sore throat improved around the 8 days the beginning of the symptoms, but around the 10th day I started to feel my chest thing with mucus, I started with a syrup that I’ve used before for this, and it helped some but sometimes the mucus seems to get stuck In my throat and I have to cough to clean it, sometimes just the air passing leads to a coughing episode, talking also seems to aggravate it.
It also affected me mentally, I had no desire to do anything and I was always tired, my sofa saw a lot of me this last 2 weeks, but Sunday I was able to go do my morning walk, not a full one but enough for me to feel like I’m getting back to normal, and yesterday I was able to start a new sewing project, so the funk seems to have lifted.
Hope you feel well soon and that is not Covid.
