I have gotten this working ..places the dir in my dropbox and all the .xml files, when I access the site via Stanza it informs me that I have..
so many categories and so many authors .. all looking good..
but when I go into get section it only shows the one book.

Not the others I have ... all the books I have are .epub format..

any ideas...
I have a lot of spaces in the file names ..could this be choking it??

I released a new version (0.0.6) of my calibredbxtract tool, which adds a lot of stuff :
  • corrected (again) the database access
  • added multiple file formats (all by default, use --includeformats)
  • the user has the choice of options (use --help to find out which)
  • added cross-references in the books pages (to other books by the same author, other books in the same categories, etc.)
  • added links to Goodread in the books details (and to Wikipedia, but only in the HTML catalogs)
  • rewrote the output engine, we are now OPDS-compliant (meaning that Aldiko users can also use our catalogs)
  • added HTML catalogs alongside the XML ones, with nice popup menus (hint: catalog.html) (Ian's idea, thanks go to him)
  • added generation of thumbnail images, to save bandwidth and speed up the feed loadings in Stanza
  • stole the icons of Feedbook to use them in my feed (I hope it's not a problem for Hadrien...)
  • all the catalogs are now paginated
  • added the option of not generating the download section in the HTML catalogs (again, Ian's idea)

Please download it from the project page ; I hope you'll enjoy it, remember to report if you find any bugs.

Also, feel free to register an account at Sourceforge and submit bug reports, and support or feature requests, I'll be happy to implement them !

PS : I'd like to warmly thank Jane and Ian for their patience, their support, and their help !

Once you've got the tool installed and ready to run, all you have to do to make it generate a brand new catalog is run it via the installed script.
If you need more help please go and read the FAQ section on the website...

All best,
David.

Sorry for being pretty noob to this, but I really can't comprehend it. All I can do is what da_jane did over and over again whenever I put new books.

Well, no problem with you being noobs, no need to apologize about that... We're all noobs at a lot of things, and even sometimes boobs - I just learned this word in the novel I'm reading

In this FAQ entry, I explain how to use calibre2opds. It's quite easy if you use the default options, and even if you want to specify your personal options it gets easy after you've done it once.

Jane's explanation - not talking about the magazine here, but about da_jane - is the basis of the FAQs ; but the "run the tool" part is only a part of it...

Please tell me if you need more details, or if you don't understand. I'll try to make the FAQ more clear, if possible.

All best,
David.

Thanks for this one, will try it again when I get home from work.

YES! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! \m/

I made a mistake by using both Calibre2Web and calibre2opds. )

Just a question, do I have to repeat the sequence of the command prompt, or just using the calibre2opds.bat program from now on?

There is a new version of calibre2opds ! It has a graphical user interface, you'll be able to generate your catalogs much more easily. The configuration you set up will be saved to a file, and the next time calibre2opds is run from the command line it will use these settings.
There is a Windows installer, and a specific Mac Os X version (bundled as a real Mac application).

Hey. It is great idea. But if someone can me help with Aldiko on my HTC Saphire. Cannot see any option to connect my Calibre library on Dropbox to Aldiko.
Any guidance would be very appreciated.

Well, unfortunately it's been a while since Minh Truong (with the Aldiko team) told me that they planned to add OPDS support to their program.
I guess their energies are focused on the opcoming tablets, either Android-based like the Adam or maybe the iPad ...

Anyway, I'll tell him that I have an sad Aldiko user here on MobileRead

In the meantime, can't Aldiko be set up to be the application that's launched when you click on an epub URL in a browser ? Do you need a specific URL scheme to be set up, like Stanza with its "epub://" ?

Thanks for your patience,
David.

Hi David,

I got all this working at the weekend, and I notice that Stanza imports the tags when the book is downloaded (nice). Is it possible to add the Series as well to the available tags, i know the sequence won't necessarily be correct, but it would be good to show all the books in a Series?

Thanks!

Hi Christopher,
I'm not sure I understand what you request ... What do you mean "Stanza imports the tags" that would not include the Series ? Which tags are imported ?
All best,
David.
