Don't misunderstand me: It wasn't my intention to criticize your posting, it was just my personal experience after the upgrade.

I hoped they would integrate "black" as another color option for the writing colors of the DPT-S1.

There is a tiny possibility that the new firmware was released only to patch
some bug. If so there is an even smaller possibility that we can find a way to
exploit it. Can anyone with the new firmware please post the system's logs.

To do so get into testmode and select "Log Extract 1"
The file I am talking about will then be available form the internal memory
under testmode/log/.

Thanks

How do you enter Testmode of the DPT-S1?

Create an empty file in the root its internal memory (not the sd-card) called rVPzp8O1j0m01oOq.crsZVu8crtmXGrc2

Once you have done this go to the home screen and press menu three times. (you may have to reboot)

Just in case, can you also try to enable ADB from the testmode app? It should not work but you never know if they changed something.

How to do it? Make file on computer and copy to DTP?

Is it possibile to connect DPT with external keyboard by wifi?
Is it possibile to use DTP as external display for laptop?
(I know that I can display from DTP to laptop but I would like to reverse it).

I want the reverse too, it would be easy to do if we had root access. Barring that we can only send e-mails to sony to ask for the feature to be implemented.

As far as writing files to the internal storage it suffices to attach the DPT-S1 to a computer via usb.

It does not let me use this function.

Hope it helps.

That was me. I'll take your advice. Thanks for saving me the money!

I'll second this request.

On a side note, I'd be curious to know what everyone here is doing about their stylus tips with use. I've bought all three types (felt, hard felt and elastomer) and am currently still on my first felt tip. The tip is very bent now and although I can rotate it with the tip puller, it always rotates back with pressure. I was thinking about cutting the tip, but i'd be afraid that if I didn't do it right, a sharp edge might damage my screen. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi everyone,

I'm using the Android hacked device with older version firmware 1.5.00.08060 . so not planning to make the firmware update to potentially mess up with my current set up.

A question on reading technique though as I do read a lot on this Sony beast.

One way I read on paper is that I put a finger or pen under the sentences and glide to guide my eyes, it's hard to do on Sony though as it seems even a piece of paper touch will flip the pages ? Any advice on what tool to use to "not flipping the page while not scratch the screen"? Much appreciated.

attached link to my screen in case you are curious how a hacked device look like.

Have you rooted it yourself or did you buy it this way?

Wow that's kind of like you've got a Unicorn. I wouldn't update either if I were you.

Have you considered disabling gestures?

case suggestion

Reagrding a case for the tablet, see post 590 on this thread for a link to the Case Logic 13" Laptop Sleeve-Chamfer. I have one and like it a lot. It's only about $8 at Amazon now.

dpts1 - my case

For my case, I took a 9"x12.5" clipboard and drilled the rivets out of the clip thingy so that it's just a rigid board. Tried adhering velcro to the clipboard, worked for a while, but eventually fell off. Two long velcro pieces work pretty well just to wrap it in the width direction (no sticky). This has offered better protection than a semi-soft case I tried and also keeps it very compact. So far, it has been placed in my backpack with other books for a whole quarter, no issues.

I just bought one and I love it! While it was not cheap, the Sony DPT-S1 is wonderful to use on a daily basis. I'm a programmer and so I need to take notes, draw little diagrams, and mark off when I've completed my work.

I have found that I can convert task lists and specs from Microsoft Word into PDFs and then put checkboxes next to each item so I can mark off when I've completed something. I can also make little notes in the margins.

I installed the latest firmware and think the Screen Share is a cool feature! I would love to have a whiteboard like function for technical discussions and the screen share will give me that.

How long do these tips last? The one that is in the stylus is black, elastomer, I guess. I also got some of the fiber ones.

I'm saddened that it does not appear as if there will be a DPT-S2. I tried taking notes on a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 but prefer to have something that does not blast light into my eyes.

I bought a little rechargeable LuminoLite so it is easier to read the screen.

All in all, I'm a happy camper.

Where did You buy it and how much did you pay? I'm looking to buy it in europe (japanese or english version doesn't matter since the device doesn't have any advanced and complex options to deal with). How would you score the portability of the device and battery life?
