I think the thread Nazis must get the emails that a new comment has been posted to their subscribed threads. So it probably drives them nuts when the fun stuff starts popping fast. Whatever. That is between them and their user cp to decide if they want notifications or not. Carry on with the unutterable silliness, you crazy wabbits |

I remember a big to-do over all of this a year or two ago. Obviously, the matter continues to churn with nary a head raise from Resolution sweet. I am unable to translate the whole "Let's go read a book or work on something important while surrounded by tons of people who won't stop talking and just let me concentrate" thing into the resemblance of sanity and I never shall. If I should find myself in a state desirous of incessant disruption I believe a large sports event at a stadium would turn the trick secure. |

LOL! It was the opposite for me. I worked all day in a tightly packed noisy office. The fire inspector kept writing us up, but what were we gonna do about it when there was no more space to expand? So the time spent waiting in the coffee shop until my play or opera or concert was a haven of comparative tranquility. Maybe those vacant stares that have been mentioned are just office combat veterans trying to decompress in the relative sanity of a coffee shop?

In a way I can understand the no laptop policy... but then again if they offer free wifi they are inviting you in. Afterall what else is WIFI for. But no e-readers... this makes no sense. It is okay to read a paper back but not the same book on a Kindle or Kobo???

Well, to be honest, I intend to pull out my Prs350 whenever I want and read. If the management wants to throw my ass out in front of the other customers, fine. I'm sneaky enough to make just enough of a scene that everyone in the coffee shop knows what's going on without my getting arrested.

Just get rid of the electrical outlets and large tables. For the full meal stores, like Panera and Micky D's, have the large tables for customers eating full meals only. If you want the "self employed" types coming in and camping out, partition off a part of the store and rent a desk and electrical outlet by the hour to them.

Then you can read all you want and sip your table top worth of coffee as long as your pleasure holds. | |
