Newbie question
Hi all,
The installation process of the one-click files worked flawlessly. Thank you so much! I can hardly believe I'm the first one, but I haven't found an answer to the following question. As instructed, I installed and unzipped the zip files in the root directory of my Kobo. Now when I look at ' My Books' in my Kobo, or in Calibre (My device), 119 files from the unzipped files are now considered to be ebooks. The majority no more then 1 or 2kb each. Can I safely delete these files or somehow change attributes, so they are no longer considered to be part of my ebook library? Please forgive me if this question was asked before. Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Paul |

USBMS ate your babies.
c.f., https://github.com/koreader/koreader...mportant-notes (I'll probably update the instructions to recommend a device reboot beforehand, as that should at least help prevent the Nickel side of things from screwing with this. That still leaves the truly terrible USB stack of various OSes to content with...). TL;DR: Make sure the config is actually updated (re-run the OCP after a device reboot if need be); watch Nickel burn down all the things on unplug, then reinstall everything once again because Nickel just broke it ![]() |

On recent Windows versions (i.e., when running PowerShell >= 7), you'll have to "unblock" the script to allow it to run. (Right Click > Tick Unblock in the bottom-right corner). That should look like this (before ticking the box): If you try opening PowerShell and then running the script you would see an error message similar to the following: Quote:

You may be forced into using an admin PowerShell session to execute the following: Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Scope CurrentUser after you have finished, I would recommend using: Set-ExecutionPolicy -ExecutionPolicy Restricted -Scope CurrentUser Last edited by DNSB; 05-17-2023 at 09:51 PM. |

Just completed the install (KoReader via MacOS) using the install script method. It all worked perfectly, except for a single user error.
Error: I downloaded the KoReader zip and transferred it to my Kobo (Nia). But (I feel I misread the instructions) I unzipped the KoReader zip onto the Kobo. Subsequently the script ran, but obviously didn't properly complete (but didn't throw up an obvious error message) but the Kobo still performed a refresh on ejecting. After the refresh all the files from the KoReader zip were then scanned by the Kobo & appeared in the library. I simply deleted them all and went back to the instructions & found my error. It might be worth noting in the instructions post for the script that the KoReader/Plato zip should not be unzipped... You know, for numpties like myself who misread the instructions. ;-) Otherwise, thanks for your work. I'm now off to play with KoReader on my Kobo. |

Firmware 4.35.20400 : both applications hang
Hallo.
I have a Kobo Aura Edition 2 (Model N236) and after the update to firmware version 4.35.20400 KOReader does not work anymore and hangs at startup. I have to reboot the reader in order to restart. I'm using KOReader 2023.04 The firmware update, as usually, broke KFMon so I made some tests reinstalling more or less everything, in different ways, using Nickelmenu alone, reinstalling KOReader from scratch, but what I can see is that the process actually starts but then it hangs without touching the screen. I tried to install also Plato (that I was not using before) but I have the same results. I had a look at the crash.log file but I saw no particular message and the trace stops with the same line that appeared when the app war correctly running. It seems that this firmware update broke something more serious than KFMon. Any suggestion? Shall I try a complete backup, reset to factory defaults and reinstall everything again? Shall I report this situation somewhere else? Bye, Michele |

Yup, it's a regression that affects a few devices, c.f., https://github.com/koreader/koreader/issues/10107

No. These packages are for the Kobo ereaders. You could take a look at the KOReader: a document reader for PDF, DJVU, EPUB, FB2, HTML, ... (GPLv3) for some help on installing KOReader on a jailbroken Kindle.
Does your version of KOReader support updating from within KOReader? |
