The script alternate route for installing Plato did not work for me on 4.32 on my Libra 2 it just doesn’t load Plato at all when I click it on Nickel menu.

Those look like two different issues, so, what was the actual terminal output from the script?

Yay, random windows bullshit.
I'll try to find some time to see if I can even reproduce that (might not be any time soon, as I don't usually run windows). |

Odd. I had to factory reset my Libra 2 recently. I just had to install nickel menu and Plato works. Didn't need to use the OCP. I'm on 4.32

I've lost track of which factory resets does what, so, assuming it left onboard alone (or just wiped .kobo) but wiped the rootfs (?!), that makes sense.
Only a manual (button gymnastics during boot) or devmenu factory reset will truly wipe everything. |

If I update the native Kobo firmware, do I just one-click install KFMon and my KOReader is back? Would I lose any data?

You only need to reinstall KFMon after a FW update, and you won't lose any data.

Sorry for my ignorance, but if I want to install koreader, will I have to install both nickelmenu and kfmon? Or is it possible to install only one of the two?

A post of appreciation to NiLuJe!
Thank you! Thank you so much :) Yesterday I had a chance to install KOReader on Kobo Clara HD for my wife. This OCP is the best I ever had on a mobile device! Having read so many articles about Kobo patches (I just wanted to enable custom dictionaries), I just didn't have enough patience (for once in my life lol) and went ahead to install KOReader directly. Now, KOReader feels like a whole another OS on Kobo! My Android 10 based Onyx Boox and even Kindle PW3 could not compare :D everything works so smoothly and feels in its proper place, like Network and Frontlight. I've got to see menus I've never seen in KOReader before xD |

Hi friends.
Whether Koreader needs to be reinstalled after each Kobo firmware update? I haven't used Kobo for so long that I forgot. Last edited by Edemen; 05-31-2022 at 08:29 AM. |

You don't, but you will have to reinstall kfmon and/or NickelMenu. So if you haven't updated KOReader or Plato for a while it might be easiest to do the whole shebang as per the OP.

Thx!
In that case, in the patch I will block the possibility of automatic updating. |
