A downgrade would apply, yeah

What's the difference between launching via kfmon vs with nickle menu alone?

Hopefully, none. It's just that I only have so much time to try stuff out, so, it's more of a question of support (as in, if you ask a launch-related question, my first answer is going to be: "try going through KFMon", as that's the setup I actually test).

For me, the only difference is that KOReader and Plato have their entries in NickelMenu's menu while I have to locate the files to launch either of them using KFMon so I find NickelMenu more convenient.

It's already the case on devices where doing so doesn't cause any unwanted side-effects (read: mostly stuff that came out after the Forma).

Seeking clarification
I’m hoping to load KO Reader onto my Kobo Aura one, firmware 4.31.
Following the instructions 1-3 at the beginning of this thread, I’m assuming the ‘root’ directory is what shows up when my Kobo is attached to my PC, with a long list of folders and sub directories, and that I simply unzip the downloaded file there. What I don’t understand is what I do to get around the problem outlined in instruction 4. Clicking on the link takes me to a page of text or code but there’s no explanation I can see for what to do with it. Am I missing something obvious? |

I don't think the instructions here are necessarily as clear as they could be, but tl;dr check the second post in the thread.

It's not difficult to do manually: https://github.com/koreader/koreader...mportant-notes
