@heynicho: Is it actually plugged in properly? Is the device actually setup (i.e., registered to a Kobo account)?
Do you happen to have weird AV software that might screw things up? Or insanely quirky security settings? What does running ls -lash /Volumes/KOBOeReader in Terminal return? |

Roger that for plugged in and registered! It's a new MBP and I haven't modified any security settings, etc. No weird AV software, either.
That command returns this: Nicoles-MacBook-Pro ~ % ls -lash /Volumes/KOBOeReader total 2048 8 drwxrwxrwx@ 1 nicolec staff 4.0K Sep 21 14:49 . 0 drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 160B Sep 21 14:47 .. 8 drwxrwxrwx 1 nicolec staff 4.0K Sep 21 14:49 .Spotlight-V100 8 drwxrwxrwx 1 nicolec staff 4.0K Sep 14 17:35 .Trashes 8 -rwxrwxrwx 1 nicolec staff 4.0K Sep 14 19:05 ._4_Rogowsky_learning styles.pdf 8 -rwxrwxrwx 1 nicolec staff 4.0K Sep 21 11:57 ._887.616_FCDsyllabus_FA20_Eccles.pdf 1408 -rwxrwxrwx@ 1 nicolec staff 704K Sep 10 14:17 4_Rogowsky_learning styles.pdf 600 -rwxrwxrwx@ 1 nicolec staff 296K Sep 11 16:20 887.616_FCDsyllabus_FA20_Eccles.pdf @Nicoles-MacBook-Pro ~ % |

I'm not sure what I did differently, but I tried it one more time and it worked! Thank you for your help. Internet stranger kindness always makes my day.

Hi,
I have a kobo forma and I would like to install both Plato and Koreader. Because I am not sure how to change the Nix settings from the instructions, I want to use the automated script. From what I read, I put the install script inside the zipped folder, leaving everything unzipped. However, I am not able to run the install script inside the zipped folder. So I unzipped everything, and tried to run the install script then. It runs but I am receiving this error: "No supported packages found in the current directory (C:\Users\Shuge Luo\Desktop\OCP-Plato-0.9.5_KOReader-v2020.10)! * Nothing to do! Press Enter to exit:" I placed the downloads in my Desktop because the instructions says not to download directly to the device. My kobo is plugged in. However, my folder structure does look different from the screenshot. I am very confused and unsure on how to proceed. Please advise. Shuge |

There was an error in the powershell script. The sanity check did not recognize the joint file (with both plato and koreader) and was not able to proceed. $VALID_GLOBS=@("OCP-KOReader-v*.zip", "OCP-Plato-*.zip", "KFMon-v*.zip", "KFMon-Uninstaller*.zip") should be changed to $VALID_GLOBS=@("OCP-KOReader-v*.zip", "OCP-Plato-*.zip", "KFMon-v*.zip", "KFMon-Uninstaller*.zip", "OCP-Plato-*_KOReader-v*.zip") |

@shugeluo: The directory structure vaguely looks like you *unpacked* the package? So would your comment about trying to put stuff "inside the zipped folder". Don't.
And the code change doesn't make much sense either: the glob `OCP-Plato-*.zip` should match *more greedily* than `OCP-Plato-*_KOReader-v*.zip` (i.e., there's no need for a specific glob, since both packages share the same prefix) :? |

What advantages do I get with KOReader while reading ePub? I know of the advantages with PDF.

You can enable pop up notes, You have images enlargement, You can enable kerning and ligatures. As You know with Nickel You have to choose: or pop up notes and images enlargement with Kepub or ligatures with Epub. If You prefer You can have in page notes: like pbooks notes are shown at the bottom of the page. And You can decide to ignore some css tag like line height, margins, embedded fonts and so on. Last but not least: You can opt to enlarge the the touch area of notes to be sure to hit them. There are a lot of other things but I should write a lot more and we're already off topic But really: try it and see Yourself if it fit Your preferences ![]() Last edited by ps67; 10-25-2020 at 02:29 PM. |

I installed KoReader with this method. I want to try plato now. Can I just install it ontop of KoReader? Thanks.

Technically probably "next to," not "on top of."

I did it the manual way, and nickel still scanned the ./ folders.
Is it OK to just go ahead and remove the .png images from the home screen/library? |
