New Test Version Released

- Fix finding imgs in existing epubs. Closes #608

This bug was introduced into the test version Nov 23. Any epubs updated using the test versions since then may well have lost images. My apologies for that.

Many thanks to Epicpkmn11 for finding this before I released.

I have 50+ stories myself that were updated in that period, so here's how I'm fixing it:

• Identify stories updated Nov 23 and later (I have an Updated date column for that). You could also use Calibre's Modified column, but that will likely catch more than you need. Mark or put in temp Reading List.
• Unmark or remove from list stories that can't have internal images (cover images don't count). Notably, fanfiction.net stories never have more than a cover image and can be discounted here.
• Search marked/list books for failedtoload using Quality Check (HTML Content checked) for images that FFF marked as failedtoload.
• From here, you could brute-force it and do update 'Overwrite Always' on those stories.
  • For smaller stories, that's perfectly reasonable.
  • For large stories, depending on the number of images, I'm manually using Edit book to remove the chapters containing failedtoload images before running epub update.

UPDATE: Also, if it wasn't obvious: If you have some stories in that list marked read and unread pay attention and handle them separately so you have still know which are which afterwards because FFF will marked then all unread again if you use those features.

This is unfortunate, but it's why we have test versions.

Do you have the version numbers that are affected by the bug? I don't grab every test version (currently on 3.25.11)...I'm checking for missing images anyways but the version numbers would help.

Also, did any of the updates break cover_min_size? I have mine set to

## If set, an image (regardless of source) will only be used as a
## cover image if it is >= both the dimensions listed here.  When not
## set, any size image will be used.  Note that some sites, like ffnet
## use relatively small images(180,240).

But when overwriting one of the fics with missing images, the auto-genned cover replaced with a 58x44 image.

Image appears in first chapter, it seems to be used as a divider.

defaults.ini now includes:

[epub]
...
cover_min_size: 10,10

This was added to avoid getting small inline images as covers, but because it's in [epub] it will override [defaults] and [<site>] sections in personal.ini; see precedence.

So I bet that you put cover_min_size in [defaults] or [<site>] sections.

Use the Microsoft Browser and go to AO3 to update the certificate. That should work.

How do I tell FFF to remove any iframes embedded in the body?

EDIT: Viewing that iframe in ebook-viewer causes the browser to pop up with the Spotify player. Not good. I reported it as a Calibre bug.

A few sites that include iframes regularly have code to remove them(base_xenforo sites, for example), but FFF in general does not.

Unless you see it happening more than once on AO3, I suggest you just manually edit that one ebook.

Just out of curiosity, is there a list of all "custom column" metadata values?

Not sure if it's a bug with the site or if they've changed something, but trying to get any story from Literotica gives an error:

No status line received - the server has closed the connection

Literotica is blocking based on user agent string. Quick fix is to change it to chrome in the personal.ini.

Click FanFicFare -> Configure -> personal.ini -> Edit personal.ini

Add this line right after [defaults]

user_agent:Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/87.0.4280.88 Safari/537.36

Assuming you mean all of the FFF metadata entries that can be put into custom columns, there isn't a single list. Search defaults.ini for _label and for extra_valid_entries. After that, it's looking at code.
