I notice that error coming up a lot recently in this thread. I wonder if there's something in common with all the fics that getting it.

I was able to download all three of those without issue. Which is unfortunately typical for this kind of problem.

Can you run Calibre in debug mode (under Preferences dropdown), try to download one again and post the debug log output when it fails?

Weirdly, it works when downloading multiple links at once, but doesn't work when using a single link. It's really slow tho, so I'm going to let it overnight and see what happens. I'll try the debug mode later.

Out of curiosity I googled the error. I got a few results and while I'm not sure I fully understand it, sometimes it happens when a file is actually encoded in ISO-8859-1/Latin 1. I don't know if this is the case here or why the issue can't be reliably replicated though. (Sorry for speculation, I just found it curious. )

We have seen similar errors when authors upload text that is not encoded properly for the site.

However, in those cases it is consistent.

When it comes and goes, it's hard to say exactly where it's coming from and I'm inclined to blame the server.

Question: While adding some fics, occasionally the categories listed in #fanficcat come out unexpected ways. I suspect conflicting or broken regexes under replace_metadata. Is there a way (in debug mode, perhaps) to see exactly which ones ran on it?

There are some debug outputs in story.py:Story.doReplacements() you could uncomment, but they produce a ton of output.

New question: I thought I saw something in the default.ini that removes the duplicate work-wide author's notes for AO3 fics, but I can't seem to find it again. Am I remembering right?

EDIT: I found it. It's remove_authorfootnotes_on_update.

I have a problem, when I want to load stories from literotica.com I always get:

Couldn't find story

But the story exists and the URL is correct.

- Update translations.

Probably the last changes before the next release in a day or two.
