Thanks! I did update (via Calibre) and restart but still the same error. Is the one in your link download version the same version?

No. The latest released version is not the same as the most recent test version.

That site change has been addressed, but I haven't released a new version since then.

Question: When downloading an anthology with comments, is this supposed to happen? It results in giant gaps of white space in the comments.

For non-series anthologies, is there a way to copy the first story's URL to the identifier field? The epubmerge settings only handle custom columns.

No, there isn't. If you have id:url set like that and try to update it with FFF, you might overwrite your anthology incorrectly.

When I need an extra/different URLs I use an identifier rule. That lets me have a clickable link in the book details. And I sometime remove the URL identifier if I know it isn't going to be updated. Or occasionally for stories that I don't want to update. I also like the look of the identifiers in the details screen more than the URLs.

It is manual, but, if you have the rule setup, you can copy the URL for the story into the clipboard, then click the identifier button in the metadata editor. That will add the identifier if it matches one of the rules, or one of the identifiers for some of the metadata source plugins.

Out of curiosity: If I remove the identifier from the metadata and then disable "search inside ebooks for story URL," FanFicFare can still get the URL on previously downloaded fics. Where is it getting it from?

It looks for URL in Calibre identifiers, then if there's an epub, it uses Calibre methods to look for identifiers inside the epub metadata, then it looks for dc:source tags with a URL and then finally if all those fail it optionally looks inside the ebook contents (not metadata) for a story URL.

I vaguely recall adding all those back in the early days of FFDL for users copying epubs from other libraries, importing epubs from FFDL CLI, etc.
