Hello,
Sorry to bother you guys, my computer and back up drive with calibre died not long ago and I can't remember how I created that really useful custom status column.
It was really handy to sort all my fanfic between completed/in progress.
Hoping someone can point me to a link or explain how to recreate it.

Create a Calibre custom column, probably Yes/No type, then in FanFicFare's config, go to the Custom Column tab and choose to fill that column.

As well, here's how to set one-chapter finished fics to 'oneshot', if you'd like that.

I tried to edit my personal ini to speed up updates, but AO3 (Where get most of my content) still asks for my login and prompts for confirmation that I am an adult. The section looks like this:

Have I missed something?

I was able to track down a fic that required login and test it myself. It's "Failed to login for URL:"

This might fall into the scope of "regex stupidity" again, but I have a frequently-updated fanfic that uses five spaces (not a tab) to indent the paragraphs in the summary/description. It looks bad in the book details panel and I got tired of manually fixing it every time the fic updated, so:

replace_metadata:
 description=>(\s\s\s\s\s)=>

The regex tester says this should work, but it didn't. I tested and the description replace works for other parts of the summary text, just not the spaces. Any suggestions?

A single space character is between the square brackets and you are only looking for 5 occurrences

But without knowing the story URL, I can't test them.

Hm I tried that and got a syntax error. Maybe I put it in wrong.

Story url is this.

I notice in the html view for the description in Calibre (and the fanfic metadata longtext) it starts with a <p> and then has <br> after each paragraph. I wonder if that might be interfering with the regex.

That description isn't using spaces to indent--it's using non-breaking spaces. Which makes a kind of sense: HTML explicitly reduces any amount of normal whitespace to a single whitespace.

It doesn't appear to be easy to get that 0xa0 character into the regexp--at least in plugin. I can do it in CLI, but when I paste it into the plugin personal.ini it gets saved as a normal space.

You can, however, put that regexp line in a file and then pull it into the personal.ini. See attached replace.txt and use with something like:

add_to_replace_metadata_filelist:file:///C:/Users/username/Desktop/replace.txt

Getting exactly the expression you want is left as an exercise for the reader.

(BTW, if you have 'Smarten Punctuation' turned on, it will sometimes convert that leading non-breaking whitespace into an indent CSS. That puzzled me for a bit.)

That works thank you. I keep forgetting that nbsps are different than normal spaces.

Can replace_metadata also affect the HTML within the description? I tried to turn the <br> into <p> because it looks better but it didn't seem to work:
