Sweden I've bought heavy dresses from people living in the US before as well, and shipping on them has never been more than 35$, and no way a Kindle cover could be bigger or weigh more, so the huge shipping fee seems kind of scammy to me :/ And 86$ was the cheapest one, ther was one for 97$ even !

I doubt that they make any money off of the shipping but it could be the groups that they ship with. Do you have a friend in the US that you could ship the cover to and have them ship it to you?

Sadly no, which is why I'm looking for an alternative to them, because while they're gorgeous, they're not THAT awesome :/

I saw a post on Kindleboards where someone in another country asked for a volunteer to buy them a cover and send it to them. Someone volunteered. I don't know how it worked out. Would be a big trust issue, especially for you since you would be dishing out the money.

That might have been a system glitch at the Oberon website. I bought a Kindle DX cover as a Christmas pressie for Mr Manou and I remember shipping to be just below US$15.- (with USPS) to Hong Kong.
Check again and maybe send an email to Oberon about it - I am sure they will be happy to help/assist you.

I just checked the website, it doesn't say, but I would imagine that it has the same wool/felt type lining as the covers do. hopefully she will see this tomorrow

Like someone else mentioned, that may have been a glitch on the Oberon site. When I ordered something a few months ago, only the UPS Express shipping options showed up, not the USPS one. And yes, those are expensive

I sent a mail asking if USPS shipping was no longer offered to the Netherlands, and it turned out their connection to the USPS system was broken. They asked me to try again, and the USPS shipping option (which was $11-ish) showed up again.

I suggest trying again, and sending them a mail if it still doesn't give you the USPS shipping option.
