That is a good concern. I never thought about that.

My concern is for sleeves/cases that are too small to fit the reader with a cover. Sure you get protection while the reader is in the sleeve/case, but you get no protection when the reader is naked. I feel a sleeve/case is only really useful when it fits the reader and a cover.

We have to protect our readers and the button on the front that can press down and the naked reader are two no-nos.

It's beautiful! You and your Mum should be proud! WOW!

PG4003,

I found a pattern on Etsy:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/62925761...nook-color-new

I've attached some pics of the one I made and even included the skin that I ordered from DecalGirl.

I'll have to try another one and put a zipper on it like you suggested as I still can't find a pattern for one with a zipper.

Thank you!

M-edge sells some cases that zip like that and can be folded back for reading, have you looked at them?

I have this pattern and I've made a couple of them, but I'm just not crazy about a fabric cover like this, I prefer something with more "substance." Which is too bad, because if I liked the fabric ones, I would have lots of them!

Got kindled! Now I am looking for a cover and/or skin for my k3. Is there a problem with the amazon non-light cover? Is it better to avoid?

I want a cover that locks and not the straps which hold.

The Amazon NON-lighted cover is no longer available and if folks have problems, are still being replaced or refunds offered.

Bull,
It seems that almost no one uses the hinge connection for the K3 except Amazon. I wish I knew why.
While I am happy with my LIGHTED Amazon cover, I also think that a few of the edge attachment systems referenced earlier in this thread would be good alternative to the hinge system or the (IMHO) awful straps.

thanks a lot. Those are indeed new ones, or shall I say I came across the first time. Will have to review the strategy...

Does it make sense to use a skin and cover both....

I think the skin is more of a cosmetic issue - do you want to add more pizazz to the kindle. If you wind up with a case that is kind of attached permanently, then you will only see the front of the skin and the rear of the kindle will be protected.

I purchased an InvisibleDefenders skin which actually covers over the keys - two purposes - to potentially keep the keylabels from rubbing off and to provide better color/lighting/contrast for the keylabels at night. But I have been reluctant to apply it!!!!!

Yeah I agree with you point about. The beauty of the skins (esp the decals) lies on the back.

But the skin does protect the device from scratches, wear & tears.

Got to make up my mind for one of the option for the time being.

I have the Kate Spade cover in red leather and I bought it when it was on sale. It is really gorgeous. Plain, but very nice.
