New model Kindle 4 just arrived at my home!

I would say it's almost Dark Gray. When light hits the casing it looks like silver metal. It's not really a light color it's just light reflects off it. It gets cold like metal does though it seems to be plastic I think.

I just sideloaded it to use Caecilia bold as the regular font. It's seems to work okay but I really wish I could get my hands on the Caecilia Condensed Bold and Italic to make the Bold version the regular font.

Thanks; I'm definitely going to have to see the Touch in person before I make the decision to buy one or not.

Is it bad that I am thinking of a K4 more because it is a good excuse to get another Oberon cover then because I need a K4?

Oberon Cover = $69

Soon enough, ereaders will be cheaper than Oberon covers.

I hope not. I've got a Marware case that fits all the K4 models (Touch and non-touch) and it is really too big for the K4 NT. It holds it well, but it is bigger and clunkier than it should be because the Touch is bigger and they were too cheap to design two different size cases.

hmmm. Hopefully the dimensions posted will help them get their cases together. In the past they have waited to have a Kindle in hand before designing and that took forever. That might happen again.

The sleeves will be available from the word go.

And yes, they are expensive, but they are worth it to me. They feel great and look great. Since I use my Kindle every day and carry it outside the house pretty regularly, that matters.

I hear you. I feel the same way. I'm also very tempted to get one of those new Touch Kindles just to have an excuse to buy another Oberon cover!

I've owned a bunch of Sony Readers and they were good, but it certainly sounds like the T1 has some serious issues. And to make things worse it sounds like Sony CS doesn't want to own up to it and treat their customers right. As we know, Amazon CS is really good and the Kindles seem to be very stable.

So I bought a K3 again, and today I'm sending back the K4. Having both of them to compare side by side, the background on the K4 screen is darker than the K3. I don't know why, but having them both in front of me, I like reading on the K3 better. Besides my own personal preference to it's size, the contrast is better because the K3 background is whiter than the K4 background.

Originally I'd thought the K4 screen was better, but unfortunately I sold my original K3 before I received the K4 and couldn't be sure. I guess I was just assuming because it's newer, or maybe it was the sharper screensavers, but in my case, the K3 contrast/size just works better for reading for me.

Glad I figured it out, and now no more switching.

Hmm, kind of a weird comment to make.

Anyway, owning both I can say I haven't had any true problems with my T1 - any more so than the Kindle atleast. I've had the force close issue come up when I loaded a stupendous amount of ebooks via microsd card and didn't wait for it to finish loading, but that's expected when you bog down a system and keep entering commands anyway.

Both have their issues, but the T1 has become my preferred reading device due to feature set, library lending via device, amazing screen, etc etc.

So us happy T1 owners are out there, we're just not the ones posting all the time!

The T1 is a beauty but it definitely has some serious issues right now with certain epubs. I read alot of omnibus type books from the library so the T1 is out. I've been following the threads over at the Sony MR forum too. I wouldn't want to deal with their customer support.

That was my experience too with the K4 screen. Lucky for me someone here told me not to sell my K3 till I tested a K4 and whoever it was I need go back and find out because I owe them some Karma!
