Looks cool Sylvie. I envy people who have crafty talent. Also, do a search on etsy.com if you're looking for more hand-made style covers.

MEdge does have the flip up covers. Java something or other does as well. I am spacing on their name but they post over at Kindle Boards and people love their covers.

It was a bit weird reading with my K3 on the plane today. Mainly because I am used to the heavier weight of the DXG but also because it was naked. The sleeve works great but it is taking some time to adjust to reading without a cover. And I was struggling to figure out what to do with the sleeve when I was reading. I don't really want to put it away without my K3 in it because then I would worry that I have the sleeve but not the Kindle. Mainly I kept it in my lap or on the table top in front of me.

The interior is a very nice beige color. The exterior is heavy canvas cloth that feels a bit like duck cloth with a black leather spine. The cloth is quite "grippy" feeling, but the cover itself is very lightweight. I think he'll like it.

Ooh, that looks great! Thanks for posting! Now that I've ordered mine, I'm impatient for it, naturally.

Mine will have this quote on the front:

And this one on the back with my contact info:

Quote:

I bought a soft leather cover in black from a Hong Kong company with German warehouse facilities. It was advertised on EBay (.de) and cost just €9.50 with €0.80 delivery. They were a very good company to deal with and replies to my emails were answered within an hour. A link to the actual page is here http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...X:eRTM:DE:1123

Whilst I'd love an Oberon due to their beauty, I think the $70 asking price is an absolute farce.

So I've gone for an extremely durable case at a fraction of the cost: the Eco-Nique natural Hemp in Brown:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Eco-Nique-Na...5297171&sr=8-1

It hangs about in my laptop bag full of console cables, power cables, even the occasional tool...and my Kindle is happy as a pig in shampoo.

My M-Edge custom cover arrived a week ago, and I just now got around to snapping photos. The photo of the back is a little off because of the flash, and I blurred out my contact info at the bottom. I'm really happy with this cover.

There's also a (slightly out of focus) photo of the keyboard area with the NoKey skin on. The skin looks graphite in incandescent light, dark slate blue with the camera flash, and dark green in natural light and under the LED booklight. It's a little shinier than I would like, but the matte versions had not-so-good reviews. After a couple of days I got used to it.

The light is the M-Edge eLuminator, and though I thought having it on the side like that would be awkward, it's actually fine for me. In fact, it keeps me from accidentally hitting the page turn buttons, but isn't in my way when I do so on purpose. I tried a couple of other cheaper lights a few months ago, and didn't like those, but I really like this one. It takes a AAA battery, which we already have a ton of around the house.

Wasn't this topic originally stickied? I looked for it the other day but had trouble finding it. I could swear that it used to be a sticky topic.

I was told that room was needed for other stickies. I don't know why the three "all abouts" can't at least be combined into one accessories sticky. maybe if we all ask... kinda' like Horton hear's a Who

Hi, is it a touch edition like mine? I really like it, but for regular use I have to take it out of the cover or I'll accidently, and regularly, touch the power botten during reading. I hate that. I'd much rather have had one with a hard botten instead, touch is only a gimmick anyway, imo.

Yes, it is. I had some issues at first with turning it on accidentally, but I'm getting better about it. I've gotten in the habit of pushing the head back a little so I don't bump it. I like the idea of a touch switch, but I think it would have been better if they'd recessed it a little more or something.

One advantage of the touch is that it actually takes a finger to turn it on, so I don't have to worry about something bumping it and turning it on when it's in my bag.
