so you are saying it waste a sub-optimal reading experience? It's unclear from your context. I feel the same about The English Patient (well the movie anyway). Apparently we have the book but I don't have the stamina to even load it onto any reader I use.

I got them converted into Mobi in Calibre - finally.

I should have read everybody's directions. I managed to De-Authorize my computer for ADE and had to fix that. Then ... every time I tried to download the Red Alert/Dr. Strangelove one the Copia Software kept crashing and shutting down.

I have everything tucked away in Calibre now and I need another Reading Software/App like I need another dog. And I REALLY REALLY do not need another dog.

All in all even more of a PITA than the Sony Reader software.

Did it ever !!!

Adanzas, you're a star, that's gone into my "never forget this" collection of cribs & tips - marvellous, thank you so much. Bunged 'em in without a whimper - definitely fooled the dread machine (P.C.) into thinking I knew what I was doing !
'Course, I do now ! (fingers xing, wood tapping).
I'd EVEN give you a personal smilie if I could get the things to work, but here's my attempt -

Always wondered if I'd ever use that bit up the top.

Koland - flushed with success, I shall consult your tip also, but just at this point, I have to go out and buy some ducks................
What an exuberant and pleasant way to say thank you. I am glad I could help. I hope you enjoy your new ebooks as much as you enjoyed putting them on your reader.

Wow, the Copia user experience rates a -2. If I hadn't come here (after ten minutes of going "WTF?"), I wouldn't have managed to get any of the books onto my computer. In addition to the fact that they just don't make it clear how to do things, I was ending up on 404 error pages left and right. And then there was the endless shopping cart loop--to get free books???

I think it's actually easier to figure out how to find and illegally download books than it is to get them free from Copia.

nice to know I'm not the only one. I balked when they required me to install their software on my system to download the "free" ebooks. I have plenty to read and there were only one or two of the 7 that I have not read or ever want to read again.

Just too much overhead to save a few bucks. But will keep an eye on the site to see how it evolves as it never hurts to have options, unless those options hurt more than not having them.

I, too, am NOT inclined to get yet another reader on my overburden computer. If they use ADE why not just provide those ascm (??) files and allow ade to grab the actual book.

No contest-- finding and downloading books illegally is an order of magnitude easier than dealing with Copia's pathetic system.

Thanks for the tip. Those are great fairly modern books, unlike so much of the other free and cheap stuff that I see offered around.

Just FYI, if anyone cares. Copia commented on my blog - the license allows transfer to any ereader that supports Adobe DRM.

thank you for super easy-to-follow instructions. I was done in minutes with everything loaded to my Nook. I already had ADE so that made it easier of course. I am anxious to read all seven books!
