Cooler finally arrived - Page 9

Grr I managed to do the same thing. It is stuck on the grey scale screen that you get when you start up. Not sure how to fix it, I tried using the reset on the page of the machine, but so far no luck.

Tried charging it? It's helped with the same issue on other devices - it's worth a try.

I have a cool-er, it froze twice and resetting it didnt do a thing. I just left it overnight... plugged in into my computer and pressed the reset a million times. it finally did. This happened twice. Better not happen again

Along with the battery indicator being way off and the device being overall finicky... Im thinking about returning it.

BTW, I have a mac, and it did create those annoying blank folders. As said, I also had trouble "ejecting" it. It would reappear. I would have to eject it and quickly removing the usb.

Also, for anyone else... the three font choices are all the same. I would change them... but they all appear the same. In some of the review pictures... I see fonts that look like ariel being used for the ebook Ulysses. For cool-er people, are all the font choices the same for you. In other words... when I go to change a font... it says that I did... but the font looks exactly the same.

And... The smallest font size is too small... and the second smallest is to big for my liking. I wish they had a 1.5.

Ask me some questions if you want to know about the cool-er.

I think in fact that you use ePub books? If the ePub book force a font, and the reader is not made to surcharge the font, it will be always the same.

For the reset process, instead of pressing multiple time, do you try to press a long time (at least two or three secondes) before releasing?

Try unmounting it with Disk Utility instead.

There's a utility called Hidden Cleaner (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27416) you can use to unmount a drive and clean it of those hidden files in one go.

Yes, along with pressing a bunch of times, i did also hold the reset button. The weird thing is that mine didnt freeze on the 8 greyscale startup screen... It froze when I went to turn a page or something. It would freeze when the text was inverted and then it would create like a blur of lines on the screen. And anything I would do wouldent make it go away. So I left it be. The I thought I would try plugging it into my computer... and I did... and it still didnt anything... but then I pressed the reset button and it restarted. I dont know how I made it work... but that did.

Also, when it was frozen and the reset wouldn't work, when I would press the reset button the indicator light would flash 3 times, but it did nothing.

This happened twice, and I hope it doesn't again.

Yes maybe it is the fact that their epub would not allow me to actually change the font. Would the fact that some if them be from feedbooks or gutenberg make a difference? What format would allow me to actually change the font type?

Ea, THANK YOU. That application is amazing. It worked! All the blank folders were gone. And other than blank folders, it would make these weird 4kb copies of all the epubs... and those went away too.

The only thing is the when I do unmount the drive it does reappear, but I just pull out the usb before it does and its fine.

Thanks! Im sure im getting overly excited about this application, but I never knew about it.

This might sound odd, but I use the smallest size (which I agree is too small for comfortable reading) in order to get through text quickly, if there are no chapter divisions. Obviously, smaller text means more text on a page, and a page turn will take one further on in a book.

Yep, tried that... its still unhappy with me. Not sure how I managed to make it so very unhappy.

Well this is their first product and I think they might have rushed things a bit? I am not sure, I know they had a delay due to software issues. They might also have been pushing the release because of the other ereaders coming up for sale in the next few months.

On the bright side I got a email from them promptly this morning saying that they would be sending me a new one, and that I would be contacted about returning the current one (which I was DHL pick up already arranged for tomorrow).

The good thing is that in general when I have emailed support, and I think others have had this experience as well, that they are pretty quick to respond.

So hopefully my new one will arrive fairly quickly. I am also hoping that they will come out with a new software update to fix a couple of things (not huge stuff but some stuff is not as user friendly as it could be).

But if the things are correct and it's netronix who made the software, they could answer what they want on the mail about the software...

The only people who could do something is netronix... And netronix is not known to be really speed and cooperative...

I hope for you that the new one will work better

for what its worth, after fixing some broken ePUB files i've had no problems with my cool-er

im quite happy with the smallest font size and can change font by messing with the epub file itself

havent had any crashes or freezes or anything other than those related to broken epubs and empty battery (intentional, wanted to see how long it would last

)
