Well, the actual factories are far from where the thing has hit, but there will be issues relate to transporting and material logistics. Most should already be resolved or get around with by now.

Netronix is most likely tackling orders beyond its capacity. No one have yet seen that Border reader on sale. Then eslick only accepts pre-orders, cooler on back order....

I hope they are holding back cause they are working on that start up BETA software...
We Paid them to be their Beta testers...

New firmware has bugs similar t the one mentioned above.

IT happen all a sudden while i was reading in to a big PDF book. I am somewhere at 1/3 of the book and after i turned off last night and turn back on today, COOLER stopped working. It stuck on the loading page only resetting and removing the SD card solve the problem.

The COOLER apparently stuck at loading the last page i read (which it used to do, a type of auto bookmark.) Fortunately that pdf was on the SD card.
I was able to start up the COOLER if the SD card was removed after reset.

I wonder if any one has encounter similar issues.

The software for this reader is really dragging it down. They need to work hard on fixing the issues and improve it.

On mine it hung on the start up page with the gradient of grays on it. It was totally unrecoverable at that point. It would not reset, powering off did not help, reset button did not help, removing the battery did not help, letting it full charge did not help. It was stuck on the gradient page even when it when into autoshut off mode.

Then whatever I did to cause the problem with the hard freeze up on my first Cool-er happened a few weeks after they sent me my replacement Cool-er. *sighs*

I asked the Cool-er CS person if the new firmware would fix this issue, but apparently this new round would not fix that specific one.

It was very frustrating because other than this issue, which was kinda on the extreme end of problems, I really liked my little Cool-er it worked over all well until it had its serious issue.

I am a very heavy reader and my guess is that the issue would not show up for a number of months in the general population of readers, and by then they will hopefully have a fix for it.

Yes I hope that Cool-er gets its software bugs worked out fast!

Poor u, poor u!
I guess we are the first paid to beta for Netronix's general purpose NTX reader

They had the EB500 and a few devices such as cybook before Cooler, and yet they can't even get basic stuff right in version 1.11. Version 1.11 by IT term is first stable version with a few bug fix, stable as in the lab. I guess you are the first actual user who use it for hours. Even their test lab can not reproduce the condition.

I like the cooler as well, it was light enough to hold in one hand with out feeling tired. I can grab it like I grab on a novel. I can't do that with my friends Sony 505. If its software gets up to scratch, the cooler is worth it. At the moment, it is has some mountain to climb for software.

It won't get anywhere stable until it is version 2.1x (Look what apple has did, release first patch for the just released OS 10.6 within 12 days.)
If we get version 1.3x next month, I will put my money on cooler and Netronix...

So how many cooler you already been through your hands?

I only went through 2, it took me about 2 weeks to cause the unrecoverable problem. They offered me another one, but I figured I would just break it again. So I asked if the problem would be fixed in this software update, but they said no it wouldn't be. Waiting on the refund process now, I figured they probably would not be too happy with me for breaking another one.

Their CS has been pretty responsive though this last person apparently doesn't know the "rules" of shopping online, though shalt never give out ones credit card number to someone who asks for it in a email.

In a previous life I did some QA testing on printers, turned out I was really good at breaking things.

I was thinking about getting an Opus to replace my Cool-er but I suspect with all the issues its been having with crashes that I would probably break it pretty fast. My EB1150 is sturdy and has time tested software, it might not be expensive but its does its job really well.

Actually, the breakdown problem (sassanik's problem) was solved with the new firmware update. My Cool-er had broken down all the way. I then downloaded the new FW and installed it and my Cool-er rides again! It's not as buggy as before and everything is a bit smoother (nice touch: the font size can be changed with the volume control now)

New issue: PDFs seem to suffer from amnesia

The current issue i encountered was if I am reading some sort of pdf on the SD card and you power on at some page half way, cooler would stop hanging at NTX version page. No, it is not the SD card as i was reading the SAME BOOK before I upgrade on the same card, it work fine then!

YES Netronix NTX reader has the eight gray scale display when you turn it on.

Cooler owners need to press Netronix to continue to develop its software. I expect they will use a similar version on their later EB600 range, so I hope they improve over time.

It does now. PDF display is better, too

For tthe FW update, you need your PC only as a power source. In fact, it does not matter if the reader is recognized or not!

Godzil:

The screen test is not the problem. The screen test is not part of the boot process per se, it is some kind of splash screen!

But it was not intended as a splash screen but as a test of the display chip. This is the sort of thing that should never goes in end-user hand.

To me it was just something to look at during the 30 second start up time.

It seems after selling 6000 or so Coolers, currently without stock for close to a month, with so few new titles on its Book site. Buggy software. Interead is still looking at the sun raise of the future. (PS. I was told the Cooler will be in stock in first week of sept...)

I think their up most task is to get Netronix make more Readers and have the software improved.

After watching the performance video between COOLER and Sony's 505 and 300, i am confidant, Cooler classic's 400 MHZ CPU and 128 MB ram can process PDF / JPG zoom with no problem if software is done well.
